4. Ottoman Architecture and History Focused Tours
Safranbolu’s Ottoman architectural heritage is, what I can only describe as impressive, making it a prime focus for tours targeting history lovers. These will more than likely stop at places of great historical value, and some that I am thinking about are mosques from the Ottoman period, old Turkish houses that show you the architecture from the 17th and 18th centuries, and spots like the Government Mansion, which shows you the importance of this location way back when. Guides are sometimes excellent, as I was saying, in providing history to a very high degree and are able to share insights into not just the design of the buildings, yet, too, the social norms of the Ottoman era. Sometimes you can get, like your insight, from an expert, and sometimes that insight might come in the shape of walking tours or just general information that will often be woven into the car rides.

Visiting, for instance, places like local bakeries that will have, I don’t know, what looks like interesting treats made with saffron. Another great option can include family-owned restaurants where recipes that go back centuries are tasted. Tour types such as this could also feature an active thing to do, maybe visiting a local market where fresh foods used in local meals could be found; that would allow people on a tour to feel, like your local farmers do when food buying. Making sure people find what looks like an honest flavor for an area has this effect.
