Thinking about St Vincent and the Grenadines for your next escape? You know, SVG? That’s how the locals usually call it, and I kind of think it adds a certain flair, that, really. I thought I’d put together some thoughts on some popular ways folks are spending their days around the islands.

Sailing the Grenadines: Island Hopping

So, have you ever daydreamed about that breezy feeling that you get when you glide across this blue water, stopping at small islands where, almost, no one else is around? Volcano Hiking: La Soufriere

Okay, so if simply sitting on the beach doesn’t really seem that fun for you, very, very think about climbing La Soufriere, a bit. That’s the tallest bit on St. Vincent. This one, that can be a physical push, actually. The hike takes you through all different landscapes, just picture rainforest areas slowly turning to drier, craggier areas close to where the crater lies. What is neat is looking down into where a volcano really is and seeing just steam coming from inside. Yet, the views on the hike, well, some say you can see the neighboring islands. In short, do plan on a local leading you on this trail, mostly because it just makes understanding the region a little better and you stay safe that way.

So, typically, these local guides actually know all of the trail’s stories and little facts about the land, too it’s almost like you get an outdoor classroom along with some needed security. I guess the total amount of time varies depending on how everyone does, and even the weather does too, but most make it up and down within maybe five to six hours. Really plan ahead, it can shift. A bit, dress practically, take some energy snacks with you, and hydrate for it, and, maybe, you might find this part to be something special.

Scuba & Snorkel Spots: Tobago Cays

Oh, Tobago Cays, more or less, those isles, well, they seem too good to be for reals. They are, too it’s almost like, a wildlife preserve. Expect really transparent seas that are nice places just to swim about and glance at just vibrant coral reefs and loads of tropical fish. Scuba supporters might find great delight at places like Horseshoe Reef and places that are outside places just meant for more knowledgeable folk. In a way, in this spot, you might get close and see sea turtles just casually swimming about.

If blowing bubbles underwater doesn’t sound right, grab something like a mask and fins and stay near the surface, I mean. Mostly, tours from neighboring islands pull up to the Cays daily. Most people have different tours, so, in some respects, find something you may be into. Either way, you can always check out local operators that have gear to use if you aren’t packing things like that. Then again, remember that conservation fees might get added, it varies, apparently.

Dark View Falls: Nature Walks

Okay, just want some easy natural views without some massive uphill hikes, then look toward the Dark View Falls. It isn’t hard to get there – found just a bit away from the main highway running along the west edge of St Vincent, actually. To see them you need to walk over some bamboo, so, still, watch out. The neat sight is two falls close together emptying into natural pool below. Basically, lots of locals come here to just get cool, particularly when they day runs hot.

Frankly, it might not need an entire day to get through, and that makes this one good for those who would instead do multiple things during the day. You do need to give a small sum, so, too, think about bringing just some quick cash with you when you head out, usually. What can make the visit memorable just rests on actually sitting near or in the waters, listening to the rushing streams emptying down. So, in that case, remember a dry change just in case!

Bequia: Whale Watching Tours

When you think of Bequia, you can see images of lovely beaches or perhaps sailors bobbing from bar to bar. Argly, that’s where you see different whale-watching expeditions getting moving. Since it’s within authorized limits, local whalers can seek after some of these water giants. It is a place just ingrained with maritime histories.

So, find local tour leaders or people who are really knowledgeable, if possible. They might provide insight that goes beyond simply pointing, for instance, toward that bit of ocean when an animal spurts some water, more or less. It may become like, some deep lesson within biology, local legacies, plus maybe some debate about the long-term issues found with hunting sea creatures. If you respect the region or ocean environments, this visit is very something special, actually.
