1. King Crab: A Taste of the Alaskan Sea
If we’re chatting about eating well in Alaska, King Crab has got to be mentioned right away. King Crab isn’t just any crab; it is that, a super famous thing. The crab’s got that great, sweet kind of thing going on, the type of flavor which makes it amazing if it’s, like, dipped right into melted butter, or even put in really fancy salads. Actually, I remember once being at a spot near the water in Juneau; I had crab legs that were nearly as big as my arms. So, really, they were that good!
And anyway, the coolest spot to give it a try is at a waterside place where the crab is as super fresh as it could possibly be. That way, the simplicity of the sea can totally be experienced, alongside that sweet flavor. Oh, too, be sure to order it either steamed, or even grilled lightly, for that great experience. Seriously, do this because it helps highlight all of its taste really well. Eating it is actually more of an event. Is that the type of experience where sharing it together with some good friends makes it an even better time?

Oh, also, smoked salmon is kind of a super must-try here in Alaska; that’s why I mention it, because it really captures like that essence from this place. I’m telling you, this is a tasty classic. Smoked salmon’s flavor could be everything ranging from rich or oaky to, say, mildly sweet. Yet, so, many places use, like, classic techniques or even very, very old family traditions so it is like experiencing a little piece from Alaskan history.
You know, I love purchasing some from small little smokehouses in, like, Seward or even Ketchikan, just to chat with people, because they are very likely running these smoking places themselves. That means these folks often, or maybe sometimes, will give you the scoop on their, you know, unique ways of preparing food plus you also get to hear the little tales or some tidbits about that salmon, and so it’s that one-of-kind kind of experience that can’t be missed out on. Oh, often seasoned so that the, I think, strong taste gets turned into a fantastic flavor that’s absolutely excellent with different stuff to try.
Oh, and I like getting it coming straight out from street sellers in places such as Anchorage. The reason for this is because nothing beats having that smoky sausage right in one hand and just walking and finding the scene out, with each single bite filled up with an absolutely one-of-kind and fantastic savory bite. They do really well to highlight this classic recipe they found dating very far back, so in practice it sort of respects where beers originated as, plus they care for where all ingredients are coming from. Actually, it is an enriching brew so don’t hesitate in experiencing it yourself. If you’re after this beer from someplace you might discover one served somewhere with a sight to look onto.
