Top 5 Aswan Adventure Tours: Reviews & Recommendations
Aswan, often overlooked in favor of Cairo’s pyramids or Luxor’s grand temples, is actually a spot that delivers a certain serenity coupled with its own unique array of adventure opportunities, in some respects. Far from just a stopover, it presents, really, a laid-back charm and acts like a perfect jumping-off point to see ancient sites, Nubian culture, and the starkly pretty landscapes of the Nile. Now, the tours you’ll find there will carry you, typically, right from serene river cruises to trips out into the desert, all with chances to, basically, totally immerse yourself in history and natural splendor. So, picking the best adventure, too, for you, well, that needs a bit of homework, of course.
1. Philae Temple Sound and Light Show & Felucca Ride
Seeing Philae Temple is, absolutely, something you just can’t miss, and viewing it at night? That’s even better, just better! Many tours pair this with a Felucca ride at sunset, which creates, essentially, a pretty, unforgettable memory. So, the experience really gets going as the sun starts its descent, coating the Nile in colors that are kind of golden, and that, actually, alone is worth the ticket. I mean you are on a felucca boat, usually, just the traditional Egyptian sailboat, floating along, really.
Then, what you have is you get to Philae Temple. Now the show involves a light show with narration, of course, projected on the temple walls, as I was saying, is that telling you about the story of Isis and Osiris, and Egyptian beliefs, as a matter of fact. It can get very busy with the tourist so booking ahead will make things easier in that case, especially if you would like an English narrative tour guide. Anyway, the cooler temperature in the night actually turns this experience into something very pleasurable, or so people say!
This option is highly rated among tourists and one of our favorites because you get 2 trips for the price of one, yet it’s still relatively short, for instance about 3 hours. I would highly advise that after this tour you arrange to try some local Egyptian food for supper at a nearby restaurant in Aswan for example.

2. Abu Simbel Temples Day Trip
Ok so moving down this list is, like your, one of the most breathtaking temples across Egypt. That has got to be Abu Simbel Temples! You’ve got four big statues of Ramses II staring right out at you from the cliff. You get the Temple of Hathor is that, dedicated to his wife, Nefertari, alongside Ramses’s monument of himself of course!
Now, the tricky bit is that this trip typically happens first thing at 4 AM so that people can see the beauty during daylight and miss any big tourist crowds. So, because the traffic can be quite dangerous the drivers normally take lots of tourists in one convoy which travels together for protection during high-risk journeys.
It is, definitely, something that’s pretty important to arrange with tour companies the day beforehand and ensure they know the hotel you are departing from to ensure the experience isn’t something that ends up a mess for you.
The bus journey normally comes with drinks such as tea or coffee, so, it really is the perfect trip! So that is because it mixes sightseeing, in a way, as a bit like a local transportation service!

3. Nubian Village Visit by Motorboat
The Nubian culture differs much to Arab heritage. So, that really comes across if you check this place out, that way, and visit the place, in particular, it does.
Now, on the west side of Seheil Island, for example, on the other side of the River Nile from Aswan, really. In these villages are families of Nubian tribesmen with beautiful architecture of colourful mud-brick houses in that case, really showing some brilliant pieces. During the tour, it’s almost best to go into their houses so that, naturally, you are able to experience a drink of local cultural teas!
Also, sometimes, if people book them well, is that you get lunch thrown in as part of the trip, just because they understand this culture so well, of course! It’s worth planning out, too it’s almost, some bartering skills though if you fancy actually purchasing gifts since that may allow them to offer discounts.

4. Aswan Camel Ride to Monastery of St. Simeon
Alright so fancy seeing Aswan from the back of a camel? Camel treks are very Aswan like your experience in many ways. What normally happens, is that, very, early that morning, the local tour guides, still, come and get people with a camel for an excursion to St. Simeon’s Monastery so to say.
Aswan is actually full of history, even now, right? So that will really become the case in the 6th Century AD.
The camel excursion does go through the Sahara desert so I would say ensure people carry the right footwear so that doesn’t prevent people from trekking over as a matter of fact! This adventure can, basically, actually give people great insights from a historic background. What I would, very, seriously advise is booking during times so to say, so that really high heat seasons aren’t selected! If people struggle walking distances you are likely to face difficulty with, you know, lots of sand hills so it would be important, really, that the right people, for example, end up booking, for example. Usually they, often, start just, a little, on the West Bank, like your, across from the River Nile, like your. So plan wisely if you get this trip!

5. Kalabsha Temple Tour
So here is, just, another historic temple where people can visit! Right near Nasser’s Lake which is close to Aswan. A great structure built in the Roman age and a popular destination by motorboat to take people there from Aswan itself!
So, a temple built close to the south where there were lots of other Egyptian places where you were actually worshipping someone and there are actually walls, still, inside to admire the historic drawings inside and walls from, of course, that era.
Remember this destination is a very scenic destination so pack good equipment such as the, a bit, best video equipment and even cameras so to say. This should make it worth remembering since I am actually seeing a good memory of this trip and something that you are doing when considering all these tour opportunities.
