Top 5 Athlone Food & Drink Spots: A Local’s Guide

Alright, so if you’re coming to Athlone or even if you happen to live here, finding a place to get some great food and maybe something interesting to drink can feel, you know, like a little adventure. We, just like your average local, have sampled pretty much everything, like your average local, and very have put together a guide to, just maybe, our top 5 spots. No matter if you’re after that truly comfortable, traditional pub atmosphere or something much more modern and food-focused, Athlone, it appears, offers a good number of surprisingly tasty choices. I mean, it really has a lot to offer.

Sean’s Bar: Where History Pours

First off, right, is Sean’s Bar, which they say it’s, very maybe, the oldest pub in Ireland – maybe the whole world. As a matter of fact, it has the certificate to prove it, supposedly. You walk in, and you’re immediately just smacked in the face, so to speak, with history. The sawdust on the floor, the open fire, very like the traditional music nights, like, really, bring the place to life. It could be a cozy corner, like it just makes you want to sink into the place.

I think it’s fair to say that what I remember most, just honestly, is the atmosphere. It almost seems as though every pint seems to taste better, very like, when you’re surrounded by that kind of, right, genuine history. They also really do a surprisingly good pint of Guinness. Of course, you absolutely have to try a “whiskey chaser”, because that’s pretty traditional. And they also, naturally, have their own whiskey blend too it’s almost, you know. We think it’s fair to say it might very will become a regular spot for anyone, almost, you know, visiting. So really, what’s not to enjoy?

The Left Bank Bistro: Modern Flavors

If what you are after, very much, is something quite different, the The Left Bank Bistro, which seems to be overlooking the River Shannon, very seemingly offers that pretty contemporary dining vibe. Now, it’s rather good for, seemingly, that, alright, slightly special kind of occasion. I would argue it’s pretty clear to see from their menu that the focus, very maybe, is on that quite local, seasonal produce. I’m thinking, more or less, fresh seafood and meats, that sort of, actually, thing.

We actually had their pan-fried scallops, because we really felt we should, followed very maybe, by the roast lamb. Both were pretty perfect. The food actually tasted and looked so pretty wonderful. You may well be saying that you won’t regret a visit, so you know, do visit! And it is alright for that rather romantic night out too it’s almost, or maybe even just that nice, relaxed kind of, anyway, meal with a friend.

Kin Khao Thai Restaurant: An Exotic Touch

So, too it’s almost, if you’re suddenly craving something exotic, alright, then Kin Khao Thai Restaurant, very arguably, is what it’s really all about, it seems. It is quite a small place, like, inside, but the, just literally, flavors seem pretty massive. Actually, that menu is just completely packed with just truly all your favorite Thai dishes, from those pretty tasty curries to those pretty popular noodle dishes. I am meaning those dishes are really are just packed with authentic flavors, actually.

The Green Curry is very, basically, one of our favorites. I would add that the Pad Thai is alright, too. But if I were saying what’s truly awesome, actually, it’s that everything tastes completely fresh and seems totally prepared with, very possibly, really quite high-quality ingredients, that thing is for certain. I have heard, supposedly, that they can get extremely busy, like you do get to hear such things. I think that’s so just really booking is pretty, completely, much a good idea, in a way. But basically, you’re just unlikely to find better Thai food, actually, anyway, in Athlone, or almost anywhere, that’s correct!

The Prince of Wales Hotel Bar: Classic Comfort

And naturally, if what you want, very probably, is that really comfortable and traditional, that’s completely hard to find actually, hotel bar experience, actually, then The Prince of Wales Hotel Bar, I think, is almost a good bet. It may well be that you’ll just find all of the, you know, alright, usual drinks on offer. Of course, actually, the thing to enjoy, very totally, I reckon, is the atmosphere.

It is alright, then, for relaxing with just a drink after, basically, what I consider that, pretty probably, busy day, very supposedly. There’s something almost relaxing and very totally old-fashioned about sinking, arguably, that pretty, very drink into those super-soft seats, you know. I have very possibly gone and felt, virtually, completely relaxed and totally content. If the weather should be cold out, it’s even better too it’s almost! Do not take my word as law.

Burgers Bar: Casual Bites

Just lastly, so to speak, very actually, for something much more casual and completely, basically quick, right, then it appears, so far as that, Burgers Bar seems completely tough, in a way, it may well seem to say. I think what’s pretty easy and extremely quick actually makes Burgers Bar a popular option, which makes perfect sense! Now, it can even get pretty packed in there! It actually might just be your best bet, naturally, if what you want, I reckon, right, are decent burgers, naturally.

It happens, I think, in some respects that you know, to say their chips seem particularly worth a try would seem true, right, they really have so much, anyway, that just really keeps folks happy. They seem super reasonably priced, in the same way. It is quite easy, or something of that nature. It is almost really a good place for an impromptu lunch and/or to enjoy yourself actually.
