Genoels-Elderen Wine Tour

So, in a way if you begin with a real heavy hitter, there’s Genoels-Elderen, which arguably just might be the oldest and largest wine estate around here. Basically it sits prettily in the Limburg province. That you know too it’s almost what they consider the Burgundy of Belgium, just a little.

Anyway, this vineyard it’s almost as though it stretches back over a thousand years. Just a little fun fact if you will. Apparently the modern era kind of kicked off around 1991, which arguably it is when the Counts de Liedekerke Beaufort really got to really breathe some life into the estate with some serious investment and some know-how.

Now that the wine experience, in some respects, it often starts, very predictably, with this scenic stroll right past the vineyards and then afterwards through their historic castle. We, literally we go through these super cool, aged cellars, just so that people can feel all of those stories. What is often super awesome about these tours that they lay it on thick with the local history alongside plenty of info about making wines? Very very very cool.

Of course there is a tasting afterwards. We have to of course talk about those sparkling wines they have available because arguably those seem to capture people’s attention. Their Chardonnay and Pinot Noir based bubbly drinks really have something, very, very. After all, sparkling wines they always seem like a real treat, often a proper classy toast to Belgian wine.
