2. Guadalest Valley: History in the Hills

Ready for something a little different? Then how about a short drive into the mountains to Guadalest? Now, it might be touristy, that, is the honest truth, so you might not like it if that annoys you but it’s still kind of difficult to beat! This place, built into the side of a cliff, is something quite unique. The drive up, too, it’s almost as much of an experience. You snake via some mountain roads and come across sights of valleys that very nearly take your breath away. Once in Guadalest, there are a set of mini-museums, artisan stores, plus that castle with its iconic bell tower. Fact is, is that on a clear day, those views from up there extend for miles! Consider swinging by the Guadalest Reservoir – that very striking turquoise water is well worth a photo!

3. Altea’s Allure: Whitewashed Walls and Sea Views

Want to enjoy something very relaxed and sort of chic? Altea might be right up your street! Now, this charming town is just north of Benidorm, and what gives it something extra is that cluster of whitewashed buildings tumbling down towards the sea. The old town is quite a treat – it’s perfect, so it is, for a chilled wander with some places selling quirky items plus eateries all over. Don’t forget to head to the church square; the views from there are pretty epic. The coastal promenade’s good too, so too it’s almost a top place for an early evening walk! Fact is that you’ll be left impressed with the feel that Altea gives out.

4. Finestrat’s Hidden Hillside Charm

For something close and ever so slightly less hectic, Finestrat could be your answer. Now, it’s a really short drive inland from Benidorm, yet feels a long way from all that hustle and bustle! Fact is that that hillside village comes with views for days! In fact you get great panoramas that reach the coast. That old part of town almost has an ‘old Spain’ feel with old little streets plus some traditional buildings. In the vicinity there is Puig Campana, very, very renowned with hikers; its silhouette acts as the town’s background, plus gives walking choices galore. So, too it’s almost ideal for a short morning trip before you end up returning to Benidorm’s beaches!

5. Villajoyosa: Colourful Houses & Chocolate

For some kind of taste of authentic Spain with an adorable bit of charm, that, is when Villajoyosa appears.
