1. Silos and Covarrubias: A Medieval Masterpiece

First on our list, as a matter of fact is a combined visit to Santo Domingo de Silos and Covarrubias. So, the Santo Domingo de Silos monastery? That old thing? It is often considered a jewel of Romanesque art! Very much so. This tour often, anyway, gets going with a morning visit to the monastery, and it is where you get to witness that awesome cloister, which has these crazy detailed capitals! Anyway it’s very cool; those capitals feature carvings from medieval times. They have griffins and lions and plants and, really, just some odd looking dudes all tangled up on a pillar. That is the kind of thing that, you know, really makes an impression!

Then, alright, you swing over to Covarrubias, right? So, that charming medieval village? It is thought to be the cradle of Castile. Seriously! 3. Atapuerca Archaeological Site: A Walk with Early Humans

Anyway history buffs, very basically, take note: The Atapuerca Archaeological Site has the remains of early humans! The cool ones! Basically this area is a, sort of, bit like a treasure chest, almost bursting open, with crazy finds, fossils, too it’s almost, from a bunch of, well, our ancestors from way back! Typically the dig has been listed with UNESCO for, just generally, its influence! In order to do these tours, very, very naturally, the, uh, experts over there show you round a number of sites where ancient peoples walked the Earth. Typically these experts really, actually, provide lots of insights, really, on all the discoveries they are making! What I have heard is that that that is awesome!

You can, very often, join the Museo de la Evolución Humana, more or less to help show all the pieces! Very. It could be this museum is the, basically, main hub for everything! It lets you explore those fossils they pull out, like from the field, in their actual homes. I am led to believe that interactive presentations can show you all the theories, but especially regarding just where humans all come from! And it is something to see! 4. Burgos City and its Gothic Grandeur

Want to see something local? I suggest you keep in mind a, slightly, good Burgos day trip? I, too it’s almost, guess a bit of you needs, right, more from the urban sprawl, yeah? Fine! Tours often kick off in that well known, but, yeah, slightly stunning cathedral! It got tagged with a UNESCO sticker to, like, label it! Oh, that beauty has got lots of chapels that sort of show Gothic creativity. All very unique! Now this might strike some as slightly obvious, alright? After seeing the central city area from this location you tend to meander through roads near that Arlanzón River and the fancy squares nearby. That all lets, seemingly, the stories emerge. A lot. Seriously. You almost are meant to explore at this point. That sort of sounds great. So I’d suggest it.

But for reals this might also show you the Cartuja de Miraflores, on the edge. It does! Very often anyway, but I suggest checking before diving deep! Okay so: the gold-leaf art by Gil de Siloé’s grave area? Oh very pretty and stunning. By the way. Often guides suggest lunch in spots where old recipes go, so maybe enjoy pinchos – just Burgos snacks. That does add local flair. Usually. 5. The Romanesque Route: Churches and Villages

And what about this local journey: that route does often trace Burgos’ Northern bits showing historic clues left from 11-1300’s builders. Wow, almost. A tour would start with a collection of local places displaying architecture along those village lanes. Just picture small churches with a number of intricate sculptures; not quite gaudy but very elaborate and pretty awesome. But not amazing… well! But nice I mean! Anyway many paths visit surprises which have a history around then – not that well known anyway. But interesting still.
