1. The Classic: Trans-Canada Highway Adventure

Okay, let’s begin with a proper Canadian thing: the Trans-Canada Highway, as a matter of fact. The Trans-Canada Highway stretches right from coast to coast. It offers up a pretty fantastic chance to scope out this gigantic country, I’d say. It’s a trip where you get all sorts of sights; vibrant cities, seemingly endless prairies, and a little bit mountainous terrain too, of course!

The journey very easily begins in St. John’s, Newfoundland. It pushes on west to Victoria, British Columbia, and I’m sure there are fantastic spots to make a quick stop. The highway tends to link some iconic places that definitely must be explored! Don’t skip Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland; such a pretty view, I reckon!

The next bit is the awesome cityscape and great cultural scene of Montreal, right? When you head into Manitoba, get ready for seemingly endless fields of golden wheat! When the mountains show themselves, get very ready to enter Banff National Park in Alberta! I think you get super great views! Finish your road trip on Vancouver Island. In a way, the island has old-growth forests and really tough coastlines that look awesome.

2. The Coastal Dream: The Cabot Trail, Nova Scotia

The Cabot Trail gives a coastal drive that just looks awesome! Very pretty too, arguably. Up in Nova Scotia, the Cabot Trail winds round Cape Breton Island. That winds round with high cliffs, you see? Plus there are woodlands nearby as you have these blue ocean bits everywhere.

Get set for winding roadways plus stops showing you views to savor and appreciate, too! Also, little villages all along the way offer chances to look at that real warm Cape Breton welcome, so too its neat Celtic roots.

3. The Mountain Marvel: The Icefields Parkway, Alberta

Now comes one very famous drive route; very mountainous I’d say! The Icefields Parkway tends to link Banff and Jasper National Parks within Alberta, and I think one can get quite a view there. When you’re going, expect to be stopped often; to marvel when seeing rocky mountains and glacier lakes!

Crowfoot Glacier offers a nice scene to behold! Another stop for those wanting pictures might just need to be at Lake Louise. This one’s really known to those around. Another neat stop has to be the Columbia Icefield Glacier Adventure that helps make things rather immersive.

Take all kinds of pit stops to gaze out at Athabasca Falls. You should, arguably, also spare some spare time to go to the very famous turquoise-hued Peyto Lake.

4. British Columbia’s Best: Sea to Sky Highway

Highway 99 is known far and wide by most people, alright? However, many others also recognize Highway 99, or the Sea to Sky Highway that very nicely snakes up British Columbia starting close to Vancouver and pushing upwards all the way up north into Whistler, actually.

Expect more stuff in terms of pretty scenes here. In other words, pretty mountain sights from Howe Sound can show off their neat charm while nearby communities offer some unique experiences too! It should also stay as a reminder to one to visit Squamish or the Stawamus Chief Park for one keen to camp close by.

In town, stop by at Shannon Falls Provincial Park, or just use some minutes or hours up for the cool Sea to Sky Gondola with that one! When you finally make it into Whistler, a proper resort town, spend time to bike those hills during warmer seasons or ski when you think there’s enough powder, okay?

Best For: It can just be a nice vacation or some road tripping to get there too! Good for ski fanatics or those chasing an intense resort environment, arguably.

5. The Prairies Explorer: Southern Alberta Circle

I should definitely get more on the less recognized vacation paths too, shouldn’t I? A road trip loop round Southern Alberta gives some real great prairies, hills and interesting stories and culture! Now, it’s the time that one needs to drive starting up around Calgary heading southward, heading all the way back in towards spots closeby like Drumheller, really.

Get set for pretty wide open land views when you move close towards spots like Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump; it shows the indigenous heritage really nicely. Also close, and interesting to have a quick gander are all the neat rocks around Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park that gives those that stop nearby nice sandstone valleys.

Take extra time to get the kids ready and on the road to go visit places such as Dinosaur Provincial Park near Drumheller if you are so close by or passing through. To clarify; this gives out scenes where you feel very aware you’re within lands showing real dinosaurs; good stuff, usually.

Best For: People with interest surrounding a nice landscape. A good match for families or the historically curious too, I might add.
