Cape Jervis, perched right at the tip of the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, is, arguably, more than just a spot to catch the ferry over to Kangaroo Island. 1. Exploring Deep Creek Conservation Park

Deep Creek Conservation Park, only about a short drive east from Cape Jervis, has an amazing mix of bushland with stunning views of the ocean. This place? It’s fantastic for hikers. Seriously, those trails have such diverse routes that cater for those gentle strollers, right up to skilled hikers looking for a bit of a test. Apparently, the “Heysen Trail,” actually, passes through this very park, plus offers, you know, multi-day adventures for proper enthusiasts.

Anyway, one must-see is the “blowhole,” too, because it has a fascinating geological wonder where the waves crash through an opening in the rocks. 2. Discovering Rapid Bay

Head north, now, just up the coast from Cape Jervis, so that you come across Rapid Bay, actually, a hidden gem. What was once a historic jetty there? That, of course, makes for really fantastic photo opportunities now. So you get your camera ready!

The beach is actually lovely for just unwinding, or swimming, actually, but apparently, Rapid Bay has really become popular with divers, in some respects. That’s due to shipwrecks, marine life there, it’s almost a super interesting experience for those wanting underwater adventures, very, very deep. Make time to check the nearby Second Valley, rather. 3. Wine Tasting in the McLaren Vale Region

A short drive inland, see, is McLaren Vale. It’s a world famous wine region that, you know, can provide for, I don’t know, the cultured traveller something pretty damn great, too it’s almost something you can rave about. The vineyards go on for miles and miles. Very scenic. Actually, cellar doors, or places you can sample a few wines at these venues, very much welcome those keen to try their super regional treats, basically! These little wineries also generally have great foods on their restaurant menus.

Try some local produce as you sample the wines; that, too it’s almost, does enhance the experience quite greatly! Lots of family-owned wineries add warmth plus personality to that overall trip there, doesn’t it now. Some bigger brand names, such as d’Arenberg with that crazy cellar door, or Wirra Wirra that has some real history, often draw much bigger crowds to try some really nice wine, really. You are quite certain to create delightful memories to last a lifetime in this really great location!

4. Experiencing Victor Harbor and Granite Island

Down south east lies Victor Harbor and nearby Granite Island. That is actually where, in some respects, the horse drawn tram heads. Anyway, it does travel that short distance across to Granite Island so visitors can easily get across and look around the scenery, maybe even get to view some fairy penguins when the sun is setting, if that’s very lucky!

Also, the town itself has various stores and eateries there which allows tourists an array of purchasing opportunities. Nearby, actually, “The Bluff” lookout offers awesome scenic panoramic vistas. Actually whale watching is definitely quite well regarded in that location. Whale watching? Yes that’s actually the thing! Of course, the warmer months make all this easier with far more sunshine. 5. A Ferry Trip to Kangaroo Island

Taking that ferry, yeah that departs straight from Cape Jervis, to Kangaroo Island, is maybe the ultimate day trip if I am honest with you all now! Seal Bay could be really great, so you know, if you want the chance to observe Australian sea lions pretty close. That, you know, actually happens there!

Flinders Chase National Park is home to those magnificent rock formations. Anyway, they are actually known as the Remarkable Rocks plus Admirals Arch; the latter, naturally, providing, yeah, views where New Zealand fur seals reside. This area has pristine beaches, amazing wildlife, yeah, this one really does provides one spectacular day out, anyway. Kangaroos. Wallabies. Wombats. Gosh that’s just three. No matter the time available here, one gets great natural encounters in one location!
