It means you can really take in the magnificence this region has to show you.
1. Chamarel Seven Coloured Earth Geopark: Nature’s Palette
So, number one on our list, naturally, it tends to be the Seven Coloured Earth Geopark. You know, the geopark shows off, more or less, sand dunes with their fantastic, different colours. It looks unreal, honestly. That natural wonder, by the way, is due to volcanic rock that has been cooled, too. Apparently, the different mineral compositions created these shades of red, brown, violet, green, blue and yellow. Surprisingly, though, even with Mauritius’s weather, those dunes don’t erode. A very popular site, the Geopark lets you experience that odd beauty for yourself. There’s also a tortoise park, too. That’s something cool you can experience.
Good to know: Actually, the park also has a gift shop and café on the site for those essentials, arguably. This also applies if you suddenly remember gifts you needed or just need a bit of relaxation time with drinks. Also, early mornings tend to be a less busy time if crowds bother you just a little.

2. Chamarel Waterfall: The Cascading Wonder
Next up, that’s another spot that deserves serious recognition; it might be the stunning Chamarel Waterfall. Seriously, this breathtaking waterfall, basically plunging almost 100 meters, offers one stunning sight. The waterfall, like your typical iconic symbol, shows off, actually, that dramatic force, like nature’s dramatic force. That incredible display of power is always great. You can, as a matter of fact, see the waterfall from different viewpoints which are on top. You can also do so via trails which go through that gorgeous, green scenery if that strikes you. I mean, they’re available.
Personal tip: Take those few extra seconds or minutes and follow paths around to have better photo angles. A lot of visitors apparently stop at that very first view spot and do photos from there. It really tends to be way better, actually, from different locations.

3. Rhumerie de Chamarel: A Taste of Mauritius
Alright, wanting something just a little, like, “spirited”? Rhumerie de Chamarel, usually shortened, sometimes, too, to just ‘Rhumerie’ to most people there, you see, really should feature on the itinerary you are using. It provides a glimpse into how rum production has advanced. Anyway, there is obviously the Mauritius’s fine rum which will go down well as well! You could get the guided tour going through every step of that production. You will learn every step, by the way, right from how that sugar cane grows, through to bottling. Naturally, you will get some samplings. So, prepare that palette!
Recommendation: Basically, have a lunch booked into that L’Alchimiste, in short, on the premises there. The menu is like one real celebration of Mauritius’ culinary flavors which is generally perfectly partnered by, arguably, one of those delicious rums.
