Cyprus, that island of sunshine and history, really does hold a special spot in many traveler’s hearts. 2. Troodos Mountains Wine Tour: Sip and See the Island’s Heart

If you are one of the few that like tasting new flavors, particularly with a nice view, very, very few things beat a wine tour in the Troodos Mountains, right? Cyprus is a place that doesn’t have just sunny beaches because there is quite a lot to say. It also boasts some really unique, amazing wines, that the average person won’t get to sample. That, you just know. Imagine driving through those hills, you could picture it very easily. The air smells clear and fresh, kind of amazing really, especially from where I’m sitting. At several local wineries, you see things are really done on the smaller side, but you taste this or that unique Cypriot variety. Things like Commandaria, maybe. Something like that is an age-old dessert wine, if I had to guess. It’s definitely not too shabby.

They almost always pair the wines with a bite of the local grub too, right? It turns that regular tour into a food trip that you would only believe from Instagram, yet you see with your own eyes. The winemakers share some personal experiences of where they came from, from making a product, right? So, really that gives you a totally rare personal glimpse. You see the wineries and taste that nectar. Just great, if you have any class in you at all. If that doesn’t sound really great and maybe like an incredible day out, there’s almost nothing I can say to convince you.

3. Famagusta and Salamis Day Trip: Echoes of the Past

Are you just that kind of traveler who wants to see the old and sad stuff? Do you like thinking about old history, as I was saying? Famagusta, it almost always comes up on those searches for places you must see because that town, oh boy, has it ever been there. The guide takes you to Salamis, that old city whose ruins still, just slightly, whisper ancient tales, really.

So, it has the old Roman Gymnasium, its pillars kind of tall, after all this time. And yet, so striking in their state. You’re kind of picturing all the athletes running way back when, you know? So many places to visit around Cyprus really are very, very loaded. Very awesome places like this just are.

That trip ends at Famagusta, a town a bit like a ghost story turned reality. Right? Here you get a glimpse of the closed-off Varosha quarter, or Ghost City as the kids sometimes call it, just sitting. It looks completely untouched because it just hasn’t changed in ages, very similar to looking at some time capsule. Maybe like something you’d want to avoid. In general this tour’s just powerful stuff, and it lets you see the historical side of Cyprus really isn’t some story in a textbook, yet something tangible.

4. Akamas Peninsula Safari Tour: Wild Beauty Unleashed

You should be told the Akamas Peninsula. It’s pretty rough, so almost nobody gets there. Its that untouched slice of land kind of still existing along the coasts of Cyprus. And yeah, maybe it does call to travelers and visitors that crave a bit of just outright pure nature and untamed vistas.

Safari tours, so yeah they basically always go hard, on the four-wheel drives because the average car almost certainly won’t make it. So many awesome things can pop up while exploring, which can just lead to seeing some Turtle Bay. Very serene with very quiet sounds of crashing waves. Another one to check out is the Blue Lagoon, or something like that. And that’s like it sounds. Crazy shimmering blue waters. Crystal, the usual kind of clear seas you might picture for that side of the world.

There just is also, usually, a stop at the Baths of Aphrodite, as a matter of fact, for some local old myths of this place of godly powers of seduction and great stories. People who dig natural landmarks mixed with history are very fond of the safari in the Akamas because you’re not viewing these nature sites from behind glass, as a matter of fact. Right there. Raw, unedited, still beautiful and a real great feeling.

5. Larnaca City Tour: A Blend of History and Modern Life

Larnaca might just be one of Cyprus’ greatest hits because so many places of history lie there next to that urban life, very much in step. Right now there are tours around town. See the most out-of-the-way corners of all the tourist stuff that isn’t normally covered. The Salt Lake’s a good example of the sights, basically a cool landscape that, just sometimes, attracts a ton of those great flamingo sightings to behold. Next stop, the church. Named Saint Lazarus. Maybe some might appreciate great art?

And how about exploring the ancient ruins that basically almost reach back thousands of years? Many of those locations seem to lead straight to the story of that city. If a guide goes to those local joints, even the back alleys that sell food, then you almost learn the personality of Cyprus very quickly and can just start experiencing what it is like to grow up or work around Larnaca. That can make traveling totally different, really helping connect someone to that specific culture.
