Okay, now that is the offbeat kind of Iceland only some know about! Petra’s Stone Collection, near Stöðvarfjörður now that’s a tongue-twister, yet a manageable drive from Djupivogur. Is quite something. Petra María Sveinsdóttir invested basically all her life pulling together just about the planet’s most spectacular private stone collection. Rocks, minerals, crystals… the whole shebang. Walking the gardens where she placed all these, just so, is an absolute experience. Is that all? Actually no. That tour probably ought to also thread through the Eastfjords. Picture it. Gaping views, basically winding roads showing you those little fishing towns clinging to the fjords? Super memorable.

3. Hengifoss Waterfall Hike & Hallormsstaður Forest
Alright, chasing waterfalls! Even should you kick around Iceland, you’ve got to see Hengifoss. Very well. A little something to note, so that’s Iceland’s third highest waterfall. But, like, here’s the awesome thing. Striking red clay stripes running between black basalt layers around the cliff face where the waterfall drops. A sight! Want feels for, very, truly real Iceland? This could be it. Several tour operators can put something very, fairly authentic together for you, connecting travelers and local fishermen, farmers, and artisans near Djupivogur.
