1. Pedra de Lume Salt Crater Tour

Pedra de Lume Salt Crater Espargos

First up, too it’s the Pedra de Lume Salt Crater Tour. This spot is fairly unique. It’s that old salt mine inside a volcano crater. Basically, the village, Pedra de Lume, boasts a rich past, very, as it was Cape Verde’s first settlement. What makes it pretty cool is, that you get to float in super salty water. Some believe its, rather beneficial for the skin. I mean, who wouldn’t want to glide, and swim in this otherworldly place? Anyway, local guides normally share really cool tales, as they speak to what it was like during the height of salt extraction, that, brings the history alive.

Now, you are probably wondering if the location is safe, too? Of course, anyway, you have to note, that swimming in saltwater may not be suitable for all, and some might have sensitivities. Is that, this is worth experiencing. But maybe, it’s just a bit of insight.

2. Espargos City Exploration Walk

Espargos City Exploration Cape Verde

Next up is a leisurely exploration through Espargos, anyway. I mean, that’s the town, actually. It might be surprising, or at least, that’s how I found it anyway, that you are on Sal Island’s main hub. This exploration brings you face to face, just a bit, with the every day happenings, and what the old buildings hold for the cities storied, slightly interesting, history. That includes, very, the local markets. Where you find Cape Verdean artisans, so they sell handcrafts, arguably, or that they serve dishes from Cape Verde. It’s that local encounter, just a little, that adds depth. Plus, listening to tales about the town from way back makes all the spots glow with insight.

Anyway, remember that, because it is a walking tour. The pace depends if it’s slow or not, and if you have a physical disability, it may be best to avoid this one, actually. In other words, bring an understanding, if the time is limited, it is that there are other locations you may find, pretty unique.

Murdeira Natural Reserve Cape Verde

If we move to Murdeira Natural Reserve Sightseeing, anyway, there is more to be had. What is it that you can look forward to there? Well, the tour offers a glimpse into a bit, a little, of Cape Verde’s ecology. That, in some respects, its landscape. Murdeira is not just this peaceful nature escape, yet, it also hides secrets about the country’s struggles to keep mother nature beautiful, and thriving. Its focus tends to be to promote environmental preservation. In some respects, it may feel slow in comparison to other places. But you’re looking at local life up close and it might be, really insightful.

Do you enjoy observing sea life? If, as a matter of fact, you like getting up close with what the earth holds in beauty, yet, I would not hesitate, but give this one a consideration. The guides are very much filled, in a way, of local tales, as a matter of fact, to share with you.

4. Shark Bay Exploration

Shark Bay Cape Verde Tour

So then, there’s the Shark Bay Exploration, now. This spot tends to be famous. Anyway, this spot allows people to peek safely. Pretty much, into the waters where lemon sharks thrive. What makes this both, by the way, it is an education is how they adapted. Yet, just the environment it supports in Cape Verde is something to respect, yet. As people wade on into shallow depths you come across baby lemon sharks swimming at bay, next. This offers more than just shark sighting. So it’s basically just a touch upon Cape Verde’s ocean conservation efforts, too. You learn pretty much how those things happen. Then you respect our sea creatures much more.

I would note something to respect. So you won’t want to be swimming, clearly. That’s probably the top note, as I was saying, with that said. Keep a safe distance to watch from what you can.

5. Santa Maria Historical Perspective Tour

Santa Maria Cape Verde History

Finally, for our last spot anyway, we find, first, Santa Maria Historical Perspective Tour, too it’s a more deep approach. Just to its past and present history, now. This one, finally, covers many corners, by the way. So you understand the cultural shift Cape Verde has gone through. As it walks through architecture or talks of its population you listen to its transformation. With insight and story they try and give tribute to it, for example. As much as to give you knowledge you will not just feel that Santa Maria is one part of Espargos’ island. Next it becomes part of who you are.

Consider anyway, while going there next, that because Santa Maria will also include beach spots the weather that day needs to be known too, next. As much as I promote this one I can just highlight in fact, why planning the day may make it, definitely worthwhile!
