2. Medieval Villages & Volcanic Parks Road Trip

Now this sounds great, right? Alright, picture driving from Girona inland and heading, like, towards places that seem untouched. The first stop, perhaps, is Besalú, you might know it, that with, in my mind, it’s iconic Romanesque bridge. Take an hour to, you see, like, wander through its historic streets, you will, too it’s almost certain, appreciate just how beautifully preserved this medieval village is. Then, if you, like your scenery rugged, drive to the Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park.

You might expect the volcanic region to be dusty and barren, yet, honestly, this is a land of, I think, forested volcanoes, like, with tons of walking trails. Check out Santa Pau, that one village that is actually inside of a, maybe, old volcanic crater. Olot too, has lots of, say, modern art and that kind of urban vibe contrasting with, obviously, the natural backdrop.

3. The Dali Triangle Car Expedition

So, have you any kind of curiosity, sort of, when it comes to Salvador Dalí? Okay, this tour will take you where Dalí was most at ease. You kick things off in Figueres, actually the artist’s hometown and home to, it turns out, the Dalí Theatre-Museum. The Theatre-Museum is absolutely something else, by the way. And I feel, with certainty, that this building itself is such a cool surreal artwork that has lots of the artist’s best stuff inside it.

You, too, could go over to Púbol, really a place where Dalí created a castle for his muse, Gala. It’s almost like, just seeing what that castle looks like it can really teach someone loads about Gala and the odd stuff that their relationship included. If you, naturally, are heading further onward there is always Cadaqués, so an unbelievable coastal village almost close to Cap de Creus. Cadaqués, it’s always believed, has all sorts of little art galleries, some very, very fancy eating spots, plus some views which can only be experienced on a coastline such as this one!

4. Pyrenees Foothills & Rural Escapes Tour

Okay, alright, anyone needing some fresh air? Maybe think about a ride from Girona into the, practically, foothills of the Pyrenees. So, as you drive up into those foothills from Girona, there is just this noticeable shifting into landscapes covered with little farms and, you know, wide-open pastures, it’s often gorgeous! Be sure to think of staying in locations that aren’t popular like Camprodon. They’re such sweet towns set almost right at the border where that nation starts growing mountains up really, pretty tall.
