Planning an adventure to Homer, Alaska? So, this pretty little town at the end of the Kenai Peninsula is just something else; it’s more or less calling out for a road trip! To be honest, with its gorgeous coastal views, unique art scene, and well, its access to some seriously amazing wildlife, a car tour really seems like the best way to see it all. But, with that many options out there, that is where does one even begin? Anyway, don’t fret, like I have you covered. Here, really, is my rundown of the top 5 Homer car tours, just perfect for making your trip unforgettable.

1. The Classic Homer Spit Drive

Right, first up is a pretty easy one and really the most iconic: a drive down the Homer Spit. Still, this long, narrow strip of land juts out into Kachemak Bay, which offers absolutely fantastic views that honestly go on forever. You know, you will probably spot some eagles soaring overhead and maybe even some seals lounging on the buoys, it’s almost a constant wildlife show! What you’ll find here? Lots of little shops, too it’s got galleries, restaurants, and fishing charters, is that perfect for poking around. By the way, that Salty Dawg Saloon is a must-visit; really, it’s practically a Homer institution!

Consider this too it’s worth knowing that traffic can sometimes be a bit of a bear in the summertime, yet that doesn’t ruin the trip. You know, pull over at a number of different viewpoints, that just take it slow, and totally soak up the atmosphere. The Spit offers so much too it’s a lively hub of activity. 2. East End Road Scenic Byway

Looking for something off the beaten path? Just a little? I would suggest that East End Road Scenic Byway is a super choice. That is; anyway, heading east from Homer, this road pretty much winds along the coastline, too it’s got that providing some stunning panoramic vistas of Kachemak Bay and the surrounding mountains. Very cool.

You know, you can spot some local farms, that see some quaint cabins, and basically that just enjoy that overall feel of this road is pure Alaskan serenity. Like there are several trailheads along the way, so just keep that in mind for that, offering nice spots to stretch your legs and have a look around. And then, take it all in, basically. You might even spot some wildlife if you’re a little lucky, usually there are moose and bears sometimes reported in the area!

Heads up that this is a longer drive; so you really ought to pack a lunch and just set aside at least half a day to fully take it all in. You might want to give that some thought, because really, this drive is very suitable to travelers wanting something more. Usually that also prefer to spend a relaxing day out touring at their own speed. I think so anyway. After all, it does just have an unmatched calm and just like incredible beauty about it. 3. Skyline Drive: A Bird’s-Eye View

Okay, you want views? Just seriously killer views? To be honest, Skyline Drive kind of more or less delivers in spades. This climb heads uphill pretty quickly just from Homer. What you’ll be getting at that altitude? Pretty, dramatic views of Kachemak Bay, the Kenai Mountains, and the town down below. Arguably the view are that stellar, the viewpoint there makes a truly remarkable background for memories.

In addition; so, there’s even a scenic overlook. Just a great option to have; where that travelers could pull over to, that they can take photographs and honestly just absorb themselves with Homer. In some respects it’s like, in my head, something of an awe. It gets even more stellar from sunrise to sunset; especially when the light basically just casts a totally striking effect right over just about everywhere you could possibly look.

Bear in mind that this one might be a tad on the steep side. Therefore you want to be sure that your vehicle is actually prepped just to go uphill before that trip. Anyway, in very clear weather though? Well, very, it’s arguably worth its weight in gold. Oh I know. To be honest, Skyline Drive offers a killer photographic viewpoint and almost a new love for Homer’s beauty.

4. Sterling Highway to Anchor Point

Ok; You know, though just a little outside Homer proper, yet taking the Sterling Highway over to Anchor Point makes for an incredibly interesting day trip. You know, the Sterling Highway is actually known as this crucial thoroughfare down here. After that, the drive provides amazing scenery, which passes all across forests. Which after passing over coastal areas of just that amazing scenic level. That’s a nice highway.

The trip takes to Anchor Point. Arguably a quaint small village just made of repute. Where? Right there; the place in mainland North America pretty well touches Kachemak Bay. Very unique that way. The beach also, it has plenty that is appropriate so that travelers who are doing tours might watch boats getting thrown up when they do. As well, if you see a whale you will be right up there too. A Whale tour might fit in. Not sure; But you can add one.

Just really allow at the very least a couple of extra hours when you think of returning on your trip to that drive so there is more flexibility regarding breaks along that journey as well, or like photographic opportunities. At the end; Arguably, that is when trips are memorable in a way.

5. The Diamond Ridge Road Loop

Just very awesome for something peaceful, scenic but quite the side of an adventure? But that you’ll get? To be honest Diamond Ridge provides just a trip straight on. Arguably you’d pass places like rolling slopes of land. You’d travel past views and the forests there. Very incredible.

With your climb up; very clearly your viewpoints shift until what you can end up noticing that you’ve seen things far below in Kenai. It should include all kinds of unique perspectives with the Kenai mountains themselves there somewhere; the overall atmosphere could be something you find as something both private as far as memories of your road trip; scenic while in your journey.

Consider this: there may exist particular areas with a rather grave and unpaved place at the moment; make specific provisions about whether any form relating vehicle matches any of them on this. It doesn’t really do anything if your Diamond Ridge road excursion results from being pretty scenic yet still it’s going safely!
