Jackson Hole aerial view

Jackson Hole, Wyoming, it’s very much more than just a ski town, that’s pretty true. It’s a place where the peaks pierce the sky and the Snake River carves its path through terrain that is breathtaking, honestly. You have got, as you probably realize, an adventure playground out here that gives you a range of things that you can do when you get outside. We, like your friendly guides, actually explored all those possibilities so we are able to bring you the top 5 things that you need to be doing when you are outside in Jackson Hole. Really!

1. Hiking in Grand Teton National Park

Hiking in Grand Teton National Park

Seriously, you just cannot go to Jackson Hole and not go check out Grand Teton National Park, really. That dramatic skyline that shows mountains that climb straight up to that place – the sky – it really makes for an image that will stick with you. And that way, you just aren’t just seeing them, like, you can be on them, too. What a feeling!

So, then you might ask where do you go? A few suggestions: if you want a more leisurely, quite flat trail then you have got Jenny Lake. It really provides trails, that’s pretty fair to say. You get outstanding, very outstanding, views and the chance to perhaps get yourself on a boat shuttle so that you are able to then go to Inspiration Point or Hidden Falls. If, on the other hand, you are after a bit of an adventure, then go check out the Cascade Canyon Trail – really something to be talking about. The trail really gets you deep inside those Tetons, too, by the way. The wildlife opportunities, just incidentally, are rather awesome.

When it comes to the when of all this, anytime from late spring until early fall it tends to be ideal, very ideal. And still, you have to make certain you keep up to date on trail conditions and bear safety; they really take that extremely seriously here. Now all you’ve got to do is lather on that sunscreen, fill up the water bottle, and get going. As a matter of fact, go see for yourself those scenes!

Whitewater Rafting on the Snake River

The Snake River, in contrast, just gives you such a very different kind of thrill from being outside; seriously. Really the most effective way you are able to be doing that, like really being hands-on with the rapids, it’s on a whitewater raft, seriously. A range of companies do guided trips that suit thrill-seekers and those families.

For family fun, the upper stretches it really delivers – float trips, actually, in the sections that tend to be calmer. You can soak up the landscape as the waters just kinda drift by, too. Should you feel extra inclined to find a little action, still, consider the Snake River Canyon section to be pretty good. This really has rapids with names like ‘Lunch Counter’ and ‘Big Kahuna.’ Pretty cool. That said, that sounds pretty exciting, basically.

That is so why then is this something to be really looking into? In so many respects, going to Jackson Hole really will come with it going out on these waters. Seriously.

3. Wildlife Spotting in Yellowstone National Park

Wildlife Spotting in Yellowstone National Park

OK, this is not, as I was saying, quite Jackson Hole-based, like, it would be mad not to, while here, factor in some Yellowstone wildlife safari activities. Just because it is just to the north of Grand Teton you really do find yourself very close to the southern entrance and seriously, it can make for a rather excellent day adventure. Keep that on the back burner there. Get an expert guide with you; they will understand, actually, the best locations to go watch the likes of bison, elk, bears, plus perhaps even wolves – too good. The Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley within Yellowstone generally provide awesome wildlife views and some great photo moments. That is pretty cool.

Therefore, while going make certain you pack some binoculars as well as your camera! The adventure it might even show, in some respects, you learning just so much in terms of just the environment – ecology and that sort of thing. In order to minimize those possible negative animal experiences always keep an appropriate safety distance. In that way you can do it.

Mountain Biking at Teton Village

Now when the snow is gone from Teton Village, and let’s say its melted now, those mountains tend to transform into biking havens. Bike Park in Teton Village so caters to so many ranges of riding abilities – they range from just that, easy going and flowing, just about all of them do flow, just through to a fair few trails that, like your skills, can really put them to the test.

You can get chairlifts getting you, obviously, and conveniently, up with your mountain bike, just basically making those climbs rather much easier so you are able to concentrate, obviously, far more on getting those descents properly nailed. For something scenic consider heading up to the trails near the top of the gondola. Just that makes it even more cool and scenic still. Actually.
