2. Traditional Madeira Cooking Class
How do you like local flavor? A cooking class is probably perfect for that. It’s about more than cooking; so it is very much about Madeira’s heart on a plate. Very quickly, you will pick up methods, usually, from experienced local chefs, that is to say, someone who knows their way in the kitchen, yet! You would start from finding ingredients to preparing authentic dishes. So imagine making espetada, or black scabbard fish – you should enjoy those tastes long after you leave. So this really offers something truly unique compared to most other souvenirs you might get.
One winter when I was visiting, I ended up joining this class, that. The head chef of the class, this woman she, so it’s almost like she knew what spices to add, but yet how much memories to flavor! To be honest I wasn’t too skilled, that is I burn things a lot but she was actually pretty patient, that is, that even I got the hang of cooking it rather. Plus, I then, could replicate some meals I learnt in that session when I got back to my own place – My friends thought I got very fancy pretty quickly. 3. Levada Walking and Photography Workshop
Madeira, naturally, comes complete with awesome landscapes and ‘levadas’, that are kind of old irrigation channels, actually. Blend seeing awesome views with honing your photo taking skills, just. So that, many classes actually mix hiking on the levadas along with expert tips about capturing the moments of them in the wild. It is all about, so, the most cool lighting angles to interesting compositions and the knowledge, you’re likely going to take photos you actually cherish.
I will, though, usually take you guys to one of the levadas sometime next month I reckon. Yet the photo bit just seemed so overwhelming, initially. Our instructor was, literally, very good with photography as well, and he was pretty excited. So then he did take us to several amazing spots. 4. Wine Tasting and Vineyard Tour
Wine’s basically a big thing over in Madeira, like your own wine perhaps but only for that area. So, in a way, visit any of those nearby wineries for really guided tours on their grounds and tasting sessions too. From learning the distinct history of the fortified stuff, which really tastes unlike anything. These tours are not only fun, as a matter of fact but you actually end up knowing heaps as well, that, about the grape to glass system. You may not appreciate that just by trying it.
Okay, my spouse’s kind of a fanatic with wine, okay, for her collection and actually I have heard Madeira’s wine actually has an appeal, like it has an actual name and reputation that lasts and is famous worldwide so of course we planned this specific little visit!
