Montargis France

Montargis, that beautiful little town in the Loire Valley, often gets called the “Venice of the Gâtinais” thanks to its many canals. That’s very sweet, yet, while Montargis has tons to offer, sometimes you just want to see what’s a bit further afield, you know? 1. Gien: Pottery, History, and the Loire River

Gien France

Just a short train trip or a leisurely drive will land you in Gien, that famous town. Gien’s pretty well known for its earthenware, so it’s almost the spot to grab a unique souvenir. First thing’s first, though, go visit the Musée de la Faïence. It shows off the history of Gien earthenware; and is that neat. Afterward, take a walk by the Loire River – is it ever pretty – and visit the Château de Gien, which houses a hunting museum. It sounds very specific, very? Anyway, that offers a cool peek into that regal history. Actually, I took a river cruise once – that was awesome.

Make certain to allocate some free time for visiting the local stores, perhaps buying several ceramic trinkets to brighten your house. And Gien does seem like the great location for eating! Take a pause at any bistro close to the river and also delight in conventional French meals while admiring the scenery.

Briare Canal Bridge

Briare is kinda famous, really, all because of its absolutely monumental Canal Bridge. The Pont Canal de Briare, you see, that transports boats across the Loire River. And is that a sight. I mean, seriously, picture this: a river flowing under another river – It tends to be quite awesome. Also, stroll by the canalside, then pop inside the Musée des Deux Marines et du Pont Canal. Which is dedicated to all of the bridge’s construction plus the background of inland waterways.

Take some time just meandering throughout the town. Basically, it includes some delightful shops plus restaurants. In reality, Briare provides possibilities for walking and cycling alongside the canals! In some respects, it’s rather wonderful to relax and take pleasure in the peaceful setting. Actually, I after noticed an amazing mosaic art exhibition throughout my excursion. Really, watch out for area events that could increase the appeal.

Then you’ll want to check out the church, and really, stroll by the banks of the Loing river, okay?

And while you’re in town, is that ever a visit to the Sucre d’Orge museum! Sucre d’Orge? Yes, actually! it’s a kind of barley sugar candy which has been manufactured here for years, so it too has quite the record. Walking across the river grants remarkable photograph possibilities; yet keep an eye on area artisans whose studios contribute appeal. If you feel just a bit like getting into the area setting!
