Ocean City, Maryland, it’s almost like this shimmering jewel on the East Coast, and that means it’s a super magnet for beach lovers. Yet, beyond the sun and sand, that place boasts, that is, a food scene that just about explodes with flavor. Now, being someone who’s spent countless summers there, chowing down at pretty much every spot you can think of, I’m going to let you in on what I think are the top five food and drink spots that really capture what Ocean City tastes like. So, get ready for some eats.

#1. Sunset Grille: Where the Day Ends Beautifully

Sunset Grille, this place sits right on the Sinepuxent Bay, and trust me, there is almost no better way to finish up a beach day than with one of their Orange Crushes in your hand, and those colors from the sunset just pop everywhere. Arguably, it’s famous, very, very famous for those crushes and its views, yet the food totally holds up. The seafood there is consistently very good. I’m talking about really, really fresh catches, seasoned so, so, so good and that tastes amazing. As I was saying, picture this: you’re sitting there, the sun sinking slowly, a plate of grilled mahi-mahi in front of you, and then that breeze, and there’s really nothing that is quite as summer as that right there.

Sunset Grille is almost like the perfect spot, I think, for families, too, it’s almost a bit special but not snobby. And they regularly will have live music, basically that vibe helps make every visit basically something you want to post on Instagram. It’s almost a requirement. #2. Fager’s Island: More Than Just a Meal, a Real Experience

Fager’s Island, you see that place, that place is much more than any old restaurant, okay? It’s kind of a destination. Located right there on the bay, the thing is that spot is famous for its sunsets as much as, or more than its food. If you haven’t been, trust me when I say the whole experience of watching the sun set there as they play that “1812 Overture,” I’m talking with cannons and everything, really, you can’t even describe it! I mean it!

That is actually just the start, actually, so anyway, their menu just has a range, really from casual to that bit fancy. I do very much like getting their Maryland crab soup and the prime rib. Anyway, their drink selection, in some respects it’s fairly impressive, very impressive, in fact, especially when you’re kicking back to those views. #3. Barn 34: Casual Dining with a Touch of Class

Barn 34, located on 34th Street (of course), so, anyway, this has become that real favorite of the local people, just because the atmosphere they provide there, very friendly, basically great food. Very much unlike other places that seem so fancy they’re really trying to impress, there the place kind of comes off as just, maybe inviting you in. So they feature lots of seafood that is pretty great. Actually, the brunch there is amazing as well. Actually, anyway, the crab benedict basically just changes you.

Barn 34 just has this vibe. To me it is warm but it’s modern too. The style sort of stands out from others that, basically, rely that are sort of cliché at this point. They are almost known very well for their innovative recipes, it seems anyway, and that service can be friendly without it being pretentious. #4. Harrison’s Harbor Watch: Seafood with a View That’s Hard to Beat

Harrison’s Harbor Watch, that place has been this Ocean City staple seemingly basically for forever. Overlooking the Inlet, you’ll almost get this awesome view, so anyway, and maybe boats are going in and out, and what I mean by that is the food very, very much celebrates the ocean. In fact, anyway, this is where you go if you’re seriously looking for a reliable seafood meal that has amazing quality ingredients that will be prepared by expert hands, I am almost sure of it.

As a matter of fact, anyway, it doesn’t matter if you are basically looking to get some steamed crabs or fresh oysters or maybe a proper, like, grilled fish, everything they offer basically is very fresh, they just give that care. #5. Seacrets: Jamaica USA, Mon!

Seacrets, it almost claims it’s Jamaica USA, you know, the saying they use? In fact, anyway, that kind of says it all, and there really just is no place quite like it at all. By the way, that place has, actually, grown seemingly a bit more into almost this sprawling complex, and what I mean is, featuring bars kind of right in the water and then little stages for that live music plus just tons of seating almost everywhere you look, as a matter of fact anyway, this spot’s almost known kind of better as being a real entertainment venue kind of than a proper restaurant.

I am saying to you that their food may come secondary, in my opinion it does not fail to satisfy you. What I am talking about are, anyway, your standard, almost, kind of beach-bar fare, you understand? Still that place has very big, bold flavors, in some respects kind of goes perfect sort of, kind of along with all those super tropical drinks everyone always wants.
