2. Bike Tour Along the Ille-et-Rance Canal
Ready for a calming change of pace? Why don’t you jump on a bike and hit the Ille-et-Rance Canal? As I was saying, this isn’t just your average cycling trip; it’s very peaceful! And you’re probably going to get such great scenery. The canal path is very flat and is also pretty easy, which may be good if you like cycling in some respects, but you are after, you know, a very relaxing ride rather than something pretty strenuous, right? Basically, the route can take you through really lovely countryside, with views, you see locks and pretty small villages too, along the canal.
Along this route, I also often find chances for just really great photos. And that’s another thing, you’ll notice wildlife which may also be nice. The guides usually share a lot about, really, that area’s history and, frankly, some bits of the local wildlife, you know, adding such an enriching angle to this. Do you believe in magic? Because Brocéliande Forest basically just screams fairy tales. It has really giant, really old trees. And it really is a very short drive out from Rennes, it tends to be, and some say it’s the actual legendary forest that Merlin the wizard lived in. Pretty awesome, very magical, right? Tours take people, generally, along these beautiful trails, so it’s really just very perfect if you dig stories about King Arthur.
Guides basically tend to fill everyone in with tales from Celtic lore and explain everything about the forest’s nature, which adds mystery to the walk. By the way, it could be almost spiritual! Okay, here’s something you should really know about: forget jumping or gliding around because a gourmet food tour in Rennes will take you places where you can sample a bunch of food instead. Be ready to have a bit of a taste sensation too! And these food tours could show just how incredible Brittany’s food can be. Plus, these are tours, usually, that whisk you away from all these well-known sights over, typically, to this really brilliant world of local delicacies. That are some brilliant smells involved here!
