1. Gio’s Restaurant: Lobster Delights

So, if you like lobster, Gio’s Restaurant over in Sandy Bay is really someplace you just can’t skip, and that’s especially true if you appreciate a view that just enhances everything. It really is just about the experience, you know? This place has earned itself a name because it serves, without a doubt, probably the best lobster on the entire island, very arguably, and it’s done in all different ways. That is, you could get it grilled, thermidor-style, or even curried—each preparation makes that fresh lobster flavor pop a bit more. As I recall, when you’re eating, the water’s just about right there, too, and you are overlooking the ocean, so that, you see, just makes everything a lot more special. Too, you’re hearing the waves, feeling the breeze, just all the things you imagine about the island life. Read our full review: Gio’s Restaurant Roatan Full Review and Details. 2. The Drunken Sailor: Sunset Cocktails

You see, there’s this great bar over in West End named The Drunken Sailor, so it’s the place you go to if you like some very creative cocktails coupled with a nice, comfortable environment. Is that, if you’re at all like me, I tend to appreciate any spot where the people running it appear like they genuinely like what they are doing. You almost get the feeling that the mixologists really like experimenting and making something unique for you. At the end of the day, the cocktail list seemingly changes fairly often based on which stuff is available on the island, therefore you are almost certain to have something you have never had before, right? Too, if you happen to be here right at sunset, well then, the spot, certainly, offers views that you probably are just going to love because the place overlooks the ocean, and the way the sky gets lit up can actually be really beautiful. Too, you are not going to want to overlook all those appetizers, arguably; a lot of those are island-inspired with just a bit of something extra, maybe? 3. Creole’s Rotisserie Chicken: A Local Favorite

You might just notice Creole’s Rotisserie Chicken right when you show up to Coxen Hole; so, arguably, it is one of those places the locals keep telling each other about all the time. In other words, if you happen to ask somebody where they go for a fast and, also, a very inexpensive dinner, the odds are really good that this comes up quickly. To put it another way, the chicken is just cooked over this big rotisserie, giving it that real flavor and a very slight smokiness. Usually, the meat itself winds up being moist while that skin, well, it’s going to wind up being pretty crispy; what I am trying to say is, if you are looking for something local and good that is simple, it seemingly just gets the job done. That is, a portion tends to be enough to feed at least two individuals, arguably, that is, if they’re not too extremely hungry. I should point out: don’t even consider leaving without trying that plantain; it’s almost fried so it ends up being caramelized and brings that sweetness to it that I love. 4. Calelu’s Restaurant: Garifuna Cuisine

So, there’s Calelu’s Restaurant in Punta Gorda; that’s seemingly a very real experience, actually, if you like getting introduced to a new type of cooking that, actually, really matters to the area. You may find that the eatery gives you that great chance to just learn what the Garifuna culture and their eating is about. To clarify, among those very popular meals is machuca, which I want to say involves a soup made with plantains along with either seafood or meat—basically, whatever you like more! The way that things are decorated seems really intended to just reflect the culture of Garifuna people, so there’s that too. Just generally, folks appear to find it’s one of those immersive times you tend to seek if you’re just a little bored eating at the very same spots where tourists typically show up. I found it gave me a great connection to that part of Roatan’s past. Read our full review: Calelu’s Restaurant Roatan Full Review and Details. 5. Sundowners Beach Bar: Relaxed Vibes

Sundowners Beach Bar, so it’s this little location right on Half Moon Bay located near West End, and that means that it has earned that distinction, likely, as among the coziest locations to watch a sunset, actually, maybe even on the whole island. To explain, the place just comes across as truly relaxed; that is, you can just hang in a hammock, get drinks, maybe try that beach barbecue if you find that it is a night where that is going on. At least as far as I am concerned, there’s no pressure to get all fancy or dressed up; as a matter of fact, many folks are usually literally just walking around still with their swimsuits! Anyway, that gives it a feel of anything goes so if you’d like that laid-back spot to just get lost for a bit as that sun dips over that horizon, you almost cannot beat that; anyway, it should likely not even come as too much of a shock when I say that you should find their cocktails fairly appealing.
