1. The German Romantic Road
The German Romantic Road, it typically travels through Bavaria, and yet it is almost like something taken straight from a fairy tale. Picture that. Rolling hills, ancient castles kind of rising up from nowhere, and villages, oh these villages, are absolutely stunning with their half-timbered houses. The vibe, really, is pure charm. It’s got that in abundance. Now this drive usually begins in Würzburg and then sort of snakes its way south to Füssen, right at the foot of the Alps.
There really are some absolutely spectacular highlights for you here too, places you might want to visit. First off we have Neuschwanstein Castle, often seeming like it has jumped straight out of a storybook. And that may be because it did inspire Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle, a real treat for everyone, you know. Then there is Rothenburg ob der Tauber, very well-known, with streets that look like they haven’t altered at all over the centuries. I will mention Dinkelsbühl. This town has got it’s medieval walls completely still standing which will throw you back in time. You can discover this at your leisure with stop-offs along the route to fully immerse yourselves in this historical location. It tends to be the ideal location to spend quality time.

2. Amalfi Coast, Italy
Italy’s Amalfi Coast, oh, wow. I might say that this has scenery that very often stops people dead in their tracks. This kind of twisting road does run along the cliffs, that are above the Tyrrhenian Sea. What you’ll discover here is a series of towns and villages, it could be said almost one jewel right after another, that present those picture-postcard vistas wherever you gaze. If that isn’t enough the route starts right up in the north at Salerno, and carries on until you get to Positano, which most people may possibly know.
Again there are plenty of awesome stopping-off points here that you have got to see. We must make sure you find the time to visit Positano, an absolutely legendary town really, and often drawing in thousands. Known right across the globe for those stunning multi-colored buildings cascading right down the cliffside to the waters edge. Next we have Amalfi, a really pretty town from which this coast gained it’s famous name. A must see, if only to walk the narrow lanes and soak in the vibes. And there is Ravello too. A bit, a little higher up it’s true, it may boast even more incredible coastal panoramas. Visit the gardens, and drink in the views here, at Villa Rufolo, I would recommend this.
Why it’s amazing for couples: This area is very much about romance. Imagine the two of you together driving right along these cliffs, maybe stopping when you both wish at viewpoints, almost losing yourselves staring out at the turquoise waters beneath you. You may eat fresh seafood right at cozy little restaurants, with your favorite drink, just taking in the view and those calming waves lapping at the shores. Perhaps take a boat ride. Why not. Get out there onto that sparkling sea for a memorable day trip together, in the sunshine? These are experiences to bond you together.
