Lake Blådalen is, apparently, that really isolated beauty surrounded by wild mountains and just so pristine wilderness. Actually, it’s a little longer drive from Rosendal, and parts of it are on narrower, windier roads, that does make the place special.

Another gorgeous driving possibility near Rosendal that would include the Åkrafjorden Scenic Route. This route requires driving a little from Rosendal initially but definitely takes you on an incredible tour along the Åkrafjorden. I mean, you’ll get waterfalls and towering mountains. The biggest attraction has to be the Langfoss waterfall. Some folks claim that it is one of the finest waterfalls on earth.

Langfoss Waterfall: Quite one of the most dramatic waterfalls that will make you stop in your tracks. You know, it cascades down a cliff face into the fjord, creating an incredible display.

I was once lucky enough to tour the region after quite heavy rains. What that did for me was to let Langfoss look its absolute best and really roaring with tons of water.
