Okay, so let’s shift gears for a minute, just a little bit, eh? Time to think of a more reflective and enriching experience, almost. It’s like this: you should be making time for a cultural encounter that showcases, to some degree, the area’s rich heritage. Right?
The Tamaki Maori Village, almost always, comes highly recommended. It gives you an opportunity to immerse yourself fully, more or less, in Maori culture. Which means taking part in traditional ceremonies, viewing performances of song and dance and generally gaining real insight into Maori customs and traditions. Pretty impressive!
Of course, like many of us, all that culture might leave you feeling a bit peckish, more or less. Not to worry; because the evening is also completed, really, by a traditional Hangi feast. 4. Mountain Biking in the Whakarewarewa Forest
So if you think hurtling down the side of a volcano, as it were, on two wheels sounds fun, typically, then look no further, actually. Whakarewarewa Forest, also called The Redwoods, provides miles and miles of tracks which accommodate mountain bikers of various abilities, very, very.
You’ll get all different types of trail; there are gentle rolling paths to pretty challenging downhill runs. So you could make it like that, couldn’t you? What this really means is that whether you are kind of beginner or more, pretty much, experienced rider, what you want to experience here, in this landscape is possible, of course.
You’ll see tall, like extremely, majestic Redwood trees overhead, right? Plus there is an undergrowth made up of some gorgeous ferns. In some respects that will also remind you of parts of California too, probably. Bike hire is totally and pretty easily available in Rotorua; if you have your own, even better, typically!

5. Exploring Geothermal Wonders: Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland
It’s impossible, to some degree, to visit Rotorua and not be blown away by its totally geothermal landscape, virtually. Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland showcases it like just a slightly surreal kaleidoscope of geothermal features. That is quite something, absolutely.
You’ll get colorful pools, that, to some degree, shimmer, very unique and otherworldly formations and spurting geysers which definitely show nature at her most remarkable. That all feels amazing, clearly. The famous Lady Knox Geyser displays it’s eruption daily; so there is less of the naturally surprising element.
Don’t just take this at face value though. Make sure you wear decent shoes for walking on, and watch out for all the safety barriers that they, arguably, provide in all areas, virtually. All this geothermal activity can be hazardous!
