The Salaverry Pier, that it is, this really long structure sticking out into the ocean, so, it’s kinda just very inviting for just a stroll. It actually, provides you with pretty expansive coastal views, so, very worth it just for taking great photos, which, I will usually do. Apparently, watching the fishing boats is actually a cool way to pass time, just catching the pulse of this working harbor, too it’s almost relaxing. Okay, what about a coastal bike ride? You know, rent one from town, and head off for, you know, some scenic exploration along the coastline. 4. Day Trip to Huaca Arco Iris (Rainbow Huaca)
Alright, if you really wanna kinda blend a bit of culture with the outdoors, here is a pretty cool idea for, that day trip to Huaca Arco Iris. It, actually, sits closer to Trujillo. I’m serious though, it isn’t very far, so, in other words, very accessible from Salaverry. Typically, these pre-Columbian ruins, actually, belonging to the Chimu civilization, almost have these fascinating mud-relief decorations. It just sorta gives you, this window into, Peru’s, just very rich past, that it does, not to be cliche, but very cool. Basically, getting there kinda involves, actually walking a bit, just that bit is nice. In other words, some open air is never too bad.
Reportedly, what many old time archaeologists suspect, the rainbow patterns which almost are found at Huaca Arco Iris are, potentially, not only a symbol of nature’s beauty, but rather a representation of hope, renewal and fortune, kinda a reminder of ancient beliefs.
