Top 5 Sibiu Full-Day Tours: Find Your Perfect Trip
Sibiu, that picture-postcard city in the heart of Transylvania, is just teeming with history and charm. If you’re planning a visit and you want to see more than just the city center, you, too, might be looking at some full-day tours. The good news is, that there’s so many super interesting options available. I will say, it can all feel just a bit overwhelming. I’ve put together a guide to what I think are the top five Sibiu full-day tours so that you can pick the one that seems pretty right for you.
1. Corvin Castle and Alba Iulia Fortress Tour
For those who are interested to discover Transylvania, this tour brings together two truly noteworthy historic spots in a day. You’ll visit Corvin Castle, which a lot of people call Hunyad Castle too. It looks so dramatic, almost rising out of the landscape, which feels almost ripped from the pages of a fairy tale. Then you’re going to head to Alba Iulia, where there’s this seriously impressive Vauban fortress, just steeped in Romanian history. It’s just that the combination of those medieval vibes at the castle and the grandeur of the Alba Iulia fortress, is a lot, giving you that really broad look at the history around here.
What Makes This Tour Special: The castle! Oh, and just the history! Plus, that it’s all delivered in one very satisfying package.
Things to Consider: There’s quite a bit of driving. This is often how these things shake out, so this tour may not be the right thing to do if you’d prefer a relaxed kind of pace, at all. Check the pickup spots in advance.
Cost: Typically around €80-€120, yet this varies rather a bit.

2. Sighisoara, Biertan Fortified Church, and Romanian Village Tour
Want a proper Transylvanian experience? This tour brings you into the center of it. You get to visit Sighisoara, thought by lots of people to be that gorgeous medieval city where Vlad the Impaler came to be. It’s actually almost as if walking back into a history book. Plus, there is Biertan fortified church, this incredible example of Saxon architecture, that shows how things looked so long ago in Transylvania. Last but not least, so you also get a look into traditional Romanian village life, it seems like, adding just that little bit more color and context to your tour.
What Makes This Tour Special: All these different bits, you know. Medieval towns, super old churches, and a proper Romanian village life, it seems like it provides an authentic and in-depth kind of experience.
Things to Consider: Comfortable shoes. Yeah, so much exploring of old buildings, that this may be your key concern here.
Cost: Should be around €70-€110, but that’s subject to, yet, changes.

3. Transfagarasan Highway Tour
Got that thirst for views? It might be worthwhile to take this trip on the Transfagarasan. You are talking here of the roads winding through those Carpathian Mountains, so it all sounds extremely breathtaking. This is truly one of those most amazing roads on earth, that goes by sweeping landscapes and offers lots of chances for a snap. It is so much more a photo-op, if you are the type to be planning that.
What Makes This Tour Special: A drive that you will remember. Just. Look. At. It.
Things to Consider: The Transfagarasan highway may actually be shut at times because of the weather (generally from late October until June), this can kind of disrupt stuff, yet do verify conditions before you are setting things up.
Cost: Somewhere between €90 and €130, it appears.

4. Turda Salt Mine and Cluj-Napoca City Tour
Want that mix of something completely different with some city stuff too? So, you can descend down into the Turda Salt Mine, a place, like, absolutely otherworldly, that has become a museum. Afterwards, the itinerary will take you to Cluj-Napoca, one of the main cities in Transylvania, a vibrant and happening city. It is almost that it packs history and modernity in one package.
What Makes This Tour Special: That salt mine, you see, is an extremely unreal location and Cluj-Napoca is the energetic town, there is just always a fair bit to see. Basically, so the overall feel that is just so super.
Things to Consider: Do keep in mind temperatures could vary, basically just inside that salt mine, and do check on the hours if you’ve a lot of other spots in view around Cluj-Napoca, it is fair advice!
Cost: €75 to €115, just typically.

5. Brasov and Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) Tour
Going to Transylvania without getting a glimpse of Dracula’s castle? This sounds almost unpardonable. This tour brings you down to Bran Castle, often linked to the legend of Dracula (that despite having almost no actual history connected), that, and there’s the attractive town down in Brasov too. It looks rather much like you’re covering some cultural must-sees in one swoop, I will say!
What Makes This Tour Special: Come to visit Dracula’s Castle, I am really tempted to say that’s plenty of things to expect.
Things to Consider: Lots of folks know this one, meaning, yeah, crowds are really pretty standard at that castle, is that, yet?
Cost: Usually round about €70-€100, so you might expect that.
