So, you’re looking into seeing Wallachia, are you? That’s wonderful! 2. Bucharest City Tour & Mogosoaia Palace

Want to feel the vibe in Bucharest, is that correct? You might like a city tour. Basically, you’ll get to visit main attractions like the Palace of the Parliament (which is utterly gigantic, in my opinion), the Romanian Athenaeum, plus Revolution Square. You see history and art nearly everywhere! Sometimes the tours take you to Mogosoaia Palace which, that, is just outside Bucharest and offers, actually, a sense of peace with very pretty gardens and interesting stories attached. Very many city tours use buses and walking to sort of, nearly, get you everywhere, and you tend to get guides filled with interesting facts, so, they’re very informative.

3. Snagov Monastery & Caldarusani Monastery Tour

Looking for something a bit quieter and with great historic flavor, right? In that case, think over touring Snagov Monastery! It sits on a little island on Snagov Lake, that can only be accessed by boat. Reportedly, it’s thought that Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for Dracula) is buried here, which brings a really intriguing draw to the location. Additionally, the Caldarusani Monastery, you know, that’s normally on this trip, stands in beautiful countryside near a very lovely forest and lake, so, in some respects you get some scenery in. Tours typically go from Bucharest, provide transportation, like your guide, plus the boat transfer to Snagov.

4. Danube River Cruise from Bucharest

Are you more in the mood to try a river adventure? Like, so, in that case, there, too, are day trips from Bucharest that include a cruise on the Danube. We often find the cruises highlight some very awesome natural sites, also include lunch on board, that is usually very fun with folk music and good times. It’s nearly always an opportunity just to sit back, admire the scenery passing you by, and perhaps even peek into remote areas you wouldn’t usually reach by land. Very many operators put together round trip transport from Bucharest, very tasty meals, and a guide, often, that could tell some great stories.

5. Curtea de Arges Monastery & Poenari Citadel

For those really interested in more of that deep dive into Wallachia’s historic beauty? As I was saying, there might be the trip to Curtea de Arges Monastery, and Poenari Citadel might just tickle your fancy, so, it’s almost what you’d need. We find Curtea de Arges Monastery to be more than lovely with its very remarkable architectural style. We hear legends claim it holds the remains of Romanian royalty. Poenari Citadel, arguably one of Vlad the Impaler’s strongholds, requires an uphill climb, that will take about 1480 steps, and offers some sweeping panoramic views, you know, which is quite an award at the end of the journey. Typically, tour operators provide transportation, so, it is a pretty relaxing adventure to visit the places mentioned.
