Top Bora Bora Adventure Tours: Expert Review & Recommendations

Bora Bora aerial view

So, Bora Bora! That very name probably conjures up feelings of paradise, doesn’t it? Is that beautiful image of crystal-clear turquoise water, those luxury overwater bungalows, and those powdery white-sand beaches basically what springs to your mind? You, like your average tourist, are likely in the same boat. And you might just be wondering about those thrilling adventure tours to properly crank up your vacation! Well, I’ve done all that research, sifted through heaps of options, and also found those absolute top picks. Very likely, what you’re about to read now will be helpful if you’re looking to make some memories that will definitely last forever.

1. Bora Bora Jet Ski Tour: Cruise the Lagoon like a Pro

Bora Bora Jet Ski Tour

First, it’s almost a no-brainer that you should get on a jet ski in Bora Bora. Typically, what most tours do is loop around the whole island, giving you stunning views from every angle. Also, it is extremely fun! Very likely, this activity gets you up close to those little motus (that’s little islands, just so you know!), maybe stopping at some pretty sweet spots that tourists almost never see, basically offering some insane photo opportunities. That said, if you’re lucky, you could also spot some cool marine life, for example, sea turtles or maybe even some rays!

Typically, those Jet Ski Tours do last about two to three hours, usually offering a little break for some swimming in some awesome locations. A bit, some operators even throw in drinks or light snacks to kind of keep you going. As I was saying, if you’re all about the excitement and you want to see a large amount of Bora Bora’s stunning scenery, then you’ll very likely not be disappointed.

2. Shark and Ray Snorkeling Safari: Face Your Fears (Safely!)

Bora Bora Shark and Ray Snorkeling

Next, are you basically thinking of doing something that sounds just a little bit terrifying, very likely in the best way possible? Also, there are a few Shark and Ray Snorkeling Safaris. That means, just as I was saying, you hop into the lagoon – obviously under supervision – with some blacktip reef sharks and stingrays. Is that something you could handle? Anyway, usually, it’s actually pretty safe because the animals are accustomed to people and the guides do a genuinely super job of making sure that everybody understands, by the way, how to act respectfully around those sea creatures. So, there’s almost no touching or chasing.

Moreover, those trips sometimes involve other snorkeling spots, basically so you’re getting some bang for your buck! Well, it might be a little nerve-wracking at first, but people who try it tend to rave about it. Typically, most travelers find it extremely cool and very memorable. So, it tends to be a big highlight on their vacation! After all, what else would you rather be doing?

3. 4×4 Off-Road Adventure: Explore the Island’s Interior

Bora Bora 4x4 Off-Road Adventure

By the way, you’ve very likely seen the beaches, so that makes you curious to find out what the inside of the island’s really like, right? Well, there’s an exciting 4×4 off-road adventure waiting for you. Also, typically, you get to bounce around on some rugged roads, by the way getting right up into those hills, obviously where you get incredible views. Still, it’s a good way of looking at a diverse number of sites, such as old World War II bunkers! The US basically used Bora Bora as a supply base; seeing those relics from ages ago brings everything into focus!

More or less, guides usually share interesting stories about that local culture, definitely some flora and fauna stuff, maybe even about those island legends that basically only the islanders usually talk about. As a matter of fact, those tours can be quite bumpy, as a matter of fact the views from up top are incredibly majestic, so I’d argue that the views alone make it completely worth it. Anyway, if you, like your average vacationer, want something besides that regular beach scene and luxury living, then arguably this tour is probably going to be just what you’re looking for. Still, if that’s your type of thing.

4. Hiking Mount Pahia or Mount Otemanu: Challenge Yourself

Mount Pahia Bora Bora

Right, let’s talk hikes. Next, there are two mountains here: Mount Pahia, and also Mount Otemanu. And, still, they provide you, like your everyday climber, pretty tough challenges. Basically, Mount Otemanu, I believe, usually requires ropes and a guide to ascend; still, some sections might not be available for hiking for your safety depending on who you ask. A bit, Pahia doesn’t usually require ropes. However, it might be really slippery if you, like your average adventurer, are hiking without proper safety and professional tour guide, which I’m not recommending. It’s possible the trail is there, but just slightly dangerous!

Now, even though they are quite hard to traverse and go across, once you are at the very top you are more or less presented with a breathtaking sight. That is, on a clear day you get views of the whole lagoon with all the little motus around the main island and also those impossibly turquoise seas which really go on forever into the horizon. The way I see it, a climbing tour like this will not only be a really wonderful form of exercise, but it is more of an awesome opportunity, honestly to have an intensely personal engagement with this absolutely awesome scenery. And as a matter of fact, that really means you come away with something unforgettable, basically other than just pictures of the beaches, you know?

5. Sunset Cruise with Polynesian Entertainment: A Relaxing Finale

Bora Bora Sunset Cruise

Next up is a cruise that is quite relaxing that you just have to basically treat yourself to it at least once, obviously during your vacation time on that island. That said, sunset cruises often bring about Polynesian entertainment, such as those traditional songs and, of course, those vibrant dances. Is there anything not to like? Furthermore, there are several cruise ships in those waters that usually give dinner service on those boats.

Now, this might well be the perfect way to kick back with those who are very dear to you, maybe appreciate the way the sun drops behind that beautiful horizon, and finally appreciate that island, the place where you might very much want to just stay there forever! In short, don’t forget that any good sunset cruise often does come equipped, obviously with cocktails and, surprisingly, delicious treats. With all of that and the island breeze cooling you off, that is a perfect finale to your time at Bora Bora. So, who’s in?
