1. Caernarfon Castle Guided Tour: A Royal Stroll

Caernarfon Castle guided tour

Caernarfon Castle; It’s almost the star of the show, let’s be honest. Built by King Edward I way back when, this humongous fortress still dominates the landscape. A guided tour; That often means you get all the juicy stories and legends that you might miss wandering around all by your lonesome, apparently. Guides, you see, can bring history alive, highlighting the clever bits of design, the royal dramas, and all those siege tales that just give you the chills. Seriously, a great guide turns a pile of stones into a real, thrilling adventure.

You could go at your own speed, just wandering through the grounds, but I promise that booking a guided tour is worth every penny. You may be asking; What will you get from it, right? It might be tales of sieges, stories of royal celebrations, or getting to know the meanings behind the Eagle Tower’s majesty, as a matter of fact. 2. Town Walls Walk: See Caernarfon From a New Angle

Caernarfon town walls walk

Want a breathtaking perspective of Caernarfon? Take a stroll along the old town walls. You know, these ancient walls, built hand-in-hand with the castle, offer spectacular views of the town, the Menai Strait, and the Snowdonia mountains far off. You’ll notice how you can hop on at different points, but the complete circuit, that is that you have the time, gives you a complete panoramic view of the history unfolding right before you, almost.

Oh, and don’t forget your camera! Those views are simply postcard-perfect. You like the wind in your hair and the sun on your face, maybe you’re like me, the town walls present an exciting, relatively untold exploration. To give you some history: Edward I ordered these built in the 13th century, the same time that the great castle was built; these defenses used to shield the town from marauders. And, just so you know, there’s nothing that beats seeing those ancient stones up close and envisioning what olden times looked like! A little tip: Some sections might get quite narrow, so sturdy footwear is suggested.

3. Scenic Cruise on the Menai Strait: Float On The Water

Menai Strait cruise

You’re seeking a soothing alternative after lots of sightseeing? A scenic cruise on the Menai Strait is a wonderful option, and that is that you ask me! This waterway, which separates mainland Wales from Anglesey, does feature awesome coastal scenery, and just oodles of wildlife. Seals basking on rocks, various bird species swooping above — it can be so captivating.

Plenty of boat tours depart right from Caernarfon’s harbor, and in a way they typically last around one to three hours, that seems like. Some could be inclusive of guided commentary on the region’s history and its natural marvels; that gives you that added bit of knowledge. Should you choose a sunset cruise, which in my opinion is magical, then you will enjoy seeing those Welsh sunsets lighting up the water– just stunning, really!
