So, IOS, that little gem in the Cyclades, it’s more often than not really well known for its lively nightlife, but very, very few folks realize it’s actually a super springboard to so many other wonderful destinations. It’s almost a perfect base for day trips, giving you a really great chance to see quite a few different faces of the Greek islands. 1. Exploring Santorini: Volcanic Views and Stunning Sunsets

A trip to Santorini is like, I mean it’s almost like stepping into a picture postcard; is that correct? It’s typically famous for its whitewashed homes, you know, that cling to the cliff sides, and those volcano views that very few forget. That is to say, from IOS, the ferry ride, typically, it’s roughly one to two hours, that is, very dependent on what type of boat you snag.

When you get there, one thing you gotta do is explore Oia. Really, it is the place for that crazy sunset folks write home about. And sure, you could very easily spend a whole day just wandering these really small lanes, you know, peeking into stores, and just enjoying the views. Anyway, it’s not only about that dreamy sunset and houses so. Santorini has this interesting past, right? Stop off at Ancient Akrotiri to get a feel for the archeological site preserved due to a volcanic eruption, and maybe take a history lesson. After, perhaps hit up the Red Beach to get a few moments of sun. It’s all red sand. Never saw such a thing!. Is that amazing?

2. Naxos: Sandy Beaches and Ancient History

Alright, so if you’re looking for a day that mixes beach time with some historic browsing, Naxos could very easily be it. It’s usually just about an hour from IOS on the ferry, that is if the gods are smiling upon you, so too it’s an easy hop.

Anyway, you can plant yourself on those stretches of beach that Naxos, like, practically brags about for relaxation after you dock, that is a suggestion if you’re tired. Plaka and Agios Prokopios tend to be mentioned often due to their beautiful and pristine views. So, with golden sands and sparkling clear waters, the beaches offer, arguably, an escape from the island, also.

However, before all the sun and sand so, definitely stop off at the Portara. This massive marble doorway, the remains of an ancient temple dedicated to Apollo, it’s, arguably, quite something. 3. Paros: Windsurfing and Picturesque Villages

Paros is generally known as a water sports center, that’s right; is that something you would know about? It is roughly a short ferry ride from IOS, typically 45 minutes to an hour and change, if weather plays fair. If you are a fan of windsurfing or kitesurfing, very, very few would disagree that this is where you need to head out.

You have the chance to go to Golden Beach; arguably, its world-renowned for those amazing wind conditions, I mean, the name alone, honestly! Parikia is pretty sweet as well. It is the main town, yet is oozing Cycladic appeal. It’s actually pretty sweet to wander around those twisty paths and get a snapshot with old, classic homes.

Naoussa, actually pretty awesome to see if you want a fishing port so, it kind of keeps it real in ways that may just warm the soul. This really scenic area is a really great spot to hang out, and get some tasty seafood over by the port. 4. Ios (Chora): Explore the Main City on Foot

Basically, even before running off to all those other isles, a very quick trip exploring IOS Town is highly advised, especially when folks do end up hopping about quickly. Basically, this city, I mean, the real heart and soul of IOS, it is all windmills and small walkways; honestly, perfect to hike through. Usually there is such beauty!

Walk up towards that very top, visit that very church to see amazing wide shots of what looks like a super deep ocean, but do so during sunlight, you might even go by early to ditch all the crowd! After you stroll, actually, hit Manganari Beach if a low profile trip seems up the alley since really shallow waters go perfectly hand-in-hand to tan or just sit at that waterline doing nothing!

As a matter of fact, you might want to grab some early meals in IOS Chora when you start heading to other spots, since the foods are arguably mouthwatering from just that very town itself. 5. Mykonos: Cosmopolitan Glamour

Okay, Mykonos, you might know it as ‘the place to party.’ It’s arguably about two to three hours by boat from IOS. Still, it tends to be worthy when those shiny vibes start tickling your very brain!

Anyways, Little Venice? Yup, I mean, picture those really cool houses perched pretty right next to all that water, pretty postcard worthy indeed. So, grab some memories and go get those drinks in hand so. But windmills are really just the hallmark. Arguably, if it can spin and make food that folks buy? Amazing!
