Top Niksic Tours: Sightseeing & Cruises Review

Niksic Montenegro

Niksic, that almost overlooked jewel of Montenegro, so is usually overshadowed by its coastal cousins, very but has a special appeal for anyone wanting to see the real Montenegro, you know? It’s more than pretty buildings; it’s a vibe, seriously. You can find history here, seriously. You also get adventure if that is something that you’d enjoy. And so, I decided to try some popular tours so you don’t have to!

1. Discovering Niksic’s Historical Heart

Niksic Old Town

The “Niksic Old Town Exploration” seemed interesting, alright, very offering a walking trip that promises to take you through the central points of the city’s rich past, I guess. The tour begins by that old central square and so, is led by this local guide, actually, that is super knowledgable on Niksic’s backstory, literally. He was awesome and stuff. It is almost like going on a time traveling trip, seriously, and learning all that crazy history about Niksic through time, like when it was under Roman rule and its time through the Ottoman Empire, very it all adds up, and stuff.

You can see some old Roman ruins. So, those buildings there actually stood, so or something along those lines, anyway for hundreds of years! And so, the tour usually stops by that Cathedral Church, that massive thing standing in the center square there, like you just have to stop, and stuff, for some photo ops and historical fun, that it is really amazing, you know? The local churches there usually hold festivals and markets to visit!

There’s one part that really stuck with me, like when we went past that King Nikola Palace. As I was saying, our guide there spun these interesting stories about the royal family, literally, about them living there and how it went, seriously. Plus, you will get these bits about the town’s long battles, you know, the town’s local heroes, honestly, and what they stood for, actually adding, and stuff, like a totally different layer to all the fancy spots, seriously. Basically, for anybody even remotely interested in what went on in Niksic and wants to see it, this would be the one you’d want to start with!

2. Lake Krupac Cruise: Nature at Its Finest

Lake Krupac Niksic

Spending an afternoon cruising Lake Krupac is surprisingly interesting. What I think what makes it great is, alright, it gets you far from all that crazy stuff going on in the city, almost being able to experience all that nature stuff surrounding Niksic, actually, and it has, like, these fantastic views! The cruises here will usually run for a couple of hours and go ’round, alright, a scenic tour that promises fantastic scenery of the hills all around, you know, those green forests, like all the beauty spots out there, right, are all so fantastic, literally.

So, it usually starts in the calmer side of the lake, that it kind of reflects these trees and mountains there like you wouldn’t think they did! I will say, though, is that you need to pack those cameras or phones! So, as you travel deeper into that body of water, so the guide there will start getting into all the wildlife in the water there and all those neat facts about Lake Krupac itself, like how deep it is and all that stuff.

That you can feel is very calming! That is very serene, seriously! Basically, what I would call a slice of Heaven on water, literally. Actually, you should consider a swim too, basically because a few tours include swimming or sunbathing sessions for a total relaxation trip!

3. Exploring the Monastery of Ostrog

Monastery of Ostrog Tour

No trips to Niksic will be completed until you visit that Monastery of Ostrog, that’s true. As a matter of fact, many consider this trip essential, almost, so because it involves the kind of sightseeing most tourists don’t wanna skip. It’s very nestled way high on those tall rocks, that you are able to view, almost, a wide view over the mountain ranges there and beyond! So, this area provides an interesting experience in seeing religion, but it has an interesting backdrop, it really does.

Tours often get going from Niksic early and it could be, like, an hour to drive over to Ostrog, seriously, the scenery there making this trip really worth it, honestly. Guides there tend to know a lot about that monastery’s amazing history, like regarding Saint Basil of Ostrog, and about just how pivotal Ostrog has been to the country’s Christians from all walks of life. That that monastery has stood for is the message.

I really was so impressed by that complex itself; honestly, the cave church and the artwork on its walls there just shout deep dedication, and stuff, but you can still feel the heritage from back then! Also, expect those crowds since this is considered a very important holy place and has tons of tourists and people going up there.

Niksic Vineyard Tour

It is almost hard to forget those trips into wine tasting, you know. And so, I got really inspired when I realized that around Niksic there were some beautiful family vineyards that make their own, like some quality wine. What is pretty awesome about these tours is that they allow people to try and understand that region’s wine background in general, seriously, seeing what that environment does to give it its quality, it really does. It’s worth a try if you can.

Tours often start by doing trips around those vineyards themselves, really teaching all there is about the types of grapes they have there, you know, how they grow them and so forth. So, those families usually make you see what goes on there on a yearly cycle, basically. From cutting those branches during the cold months, very when they reap what they sow when the weather’s nice.

Wine tasting is always a treat, since usually you’d have the opportunity to test quite a few local varieties, honestly paired along delicious cheeses and meat platters they offer too! The thing that got me hooked there was learning straight from those owners who grew up on the land just how much goes into that kind of art!
