Top Palestinian Territories Tours: Explore & Discover
So, when people think about travel, the Palestinian Territories might be very, very low on the list for a lot of folks. That said, for those very folks who are open to it, and actually curious to get to know its heart, then you could find something that is completely fulfilling. Now, we’re talking way more than your average vacation here, basically. Seeing the ancient cities, connecting with people that have actually seen way more in their lives than most could almost comprehend, plus getting some absolutely scrumptious local food in you – it’s actually hard to describe. Anyway, that is, assuming you’re very, very careful and pick the right outfitters that know the place, obviously. So, that’s very important.
The All-In-One West Bank Tour
This one tends to be a solid pick, particularly if it’s your first go around in this place, mostly because it throws a little bit of anything that you could want at you, so to speak. Typically, you’ll find yourself shuffling all over places such as Bethlehem (you know, the birthplace!), Hebron’s old city (very old!), and then some random spots in between, that’s actually very fascinating if you tend to stop to ask some questions. What’s interesting here, is that your average run-of-the-mill guide, like your mate Steve back home, doesn’t know a thing. Guides around here could bore the socks off you with like, fifty centuries worth of info (or, really make it come alive). Just watch out for companies rushing you through sites, since it is just a bit annoying.

The big plus here is how much ground you very much cover, and then the deep stories you’ll take back home with you. Maybe you’ll be parched afterwards, so definitely take a load of water!

Bethlehem Uncovered: A Day Trip
Okay, so Bethlehem tends to get its own spot, you see? Most know the Nativity Church from history class back in the day, that it’s basically where everyone thinks Jesus was born, too. But there’s like, a stack more around here to gawk at, anyway. So, it’s almost all built into the old stones here, and what you find depends on who’s telling the story. A stellar guide could, you know, make you feel the vibe as soon as you set foot near the place, walking down streets very much the same as they were way back when, in a way. The downside? The church basically has hordes of people, just trying to feel what you’re trying to feel.

Try and get to places that give you a different angle. I mean, maybe look for workshops to meet folks crafting mother-of-pearl trinkets, or try the food—the tastes that you’ll pick up just going random, that are usually way better than any menu will tell you about. I mean, just remember the history—and then discover all the stuff around it. If you think I’m being hyperbolic, that Bethlehem’s the appetizer and the experience around it that could feed the soul? You’d only know if you gave it a shot, really.

Hebron: A Shared History Tour
Now, Hebron…that might be just a bit more prickly. Here’s the story, in the shortest way to put it, anyway: you’ve got a holy city where very, very different people live side-by-side, even though their experiences don’t seem to line up all that well at all. The Tomb of the Patriarchs? Super revered in quite a few religions, like your Christianity, your Islam, or Judaism for that matter, too. So, any tour that brushes over the spot just for a look at a tomb…is missing what’s happening here on a deep level.

The interesting point is tours that try to open the space for anyone listening with two ears, just so everyone can kind of figure out what anyone around here is going through on the ground. Just be prepared for a space where, at the end of the day, not everyone feels heard equally, it’s very much real life and not just Instagram posts. That could be why it ends up sticking with you so strongly.

The Foodie’s Palestine
Alright, let’s ditch rocks, graves, churches, and that whole bag. Want an insider peek into people, you see? Hit them through the stomach, of course! Anyway, you might find cooking workshops out there. Picture grabbing herbs at the market like your grandmother might have back in the old country, then getting back together to bash it together like you’re cooking with an old family member. Beyond food you could take pictures of is something that sticks to you in a really different sort of way, right?

Ask where the locals actually eat, and then follow. Eat what they’re having. Get messy with it too it’s almost certainly going to happen that way. I mean, Palestine is no different, you get into it through the eats and flavors. I mean, imagine coming home with a recipe very, very few folks around your town have even tasted! It’s not that you could get just from a photo online.

Jerusalem Add-On: Day Trips
So, you really cannot ignore Jerusalem if you’re sniffing around the Palestinian Territories. It’s a skip and a hop away, and, you know, absolutely swimming with stuff that history nerds would totally dig, as they say. Tours from Palestine that loop in Jerusalem are like two scoops of your very favorite thing with ice cream. Problem? You only get a day! Still, it gets you a nibble.

You could see the Dome of the Rock glinting, ramble along the Via Dolorosa so many have walked (if religious things get you going). Just figure out exactly what you want from Jerusalem beforehand, or, you might end up wandering aimlessly, seeing way too many knick-knack sellers along the way (you can basically find the same cheap shot glass from Jerusalem somewhere on Amazon for about a buck). Come locked and loaded knowing why you showed up, it really keeps it legit.
