When you have some sort of plan to check out places near Puno, such as, say, Copacabana on the Bolivian part of Lake Titicaca, native buses is a pretty cost-effective way to get about. Typically, these buses get you to lots of little villages plus towns surrounding Puno and, what is nice is, that it lets you view a little real everyday life in the Andes. That being said, do bear in mind these buses are not really, typically high on comfort and maybe the schedules a bit hit-or-miss. If you do not actually feel like handling the commotion with native transport and you value privacy or directness, using a private transfer is probably something worth a look.
