Surfside Buslines is the name of the regular public bus operator on the Gold Coast, yes? For hitting top spots within Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, you could grab the G:link, right? The light rail system is almost a good move. It also runs very often and can probably be counted on to keep you away from traffic jams. From Helensvale, it now also connects, at some stage, straight out to the train to Brisbane, in some respects, in case anyone wanted an option for accessing Surfers from Brisbane airport by grabbing a train and light rail train and wanted no bus.
