1. The Classic Tijuana City Tour

Avenida Revolucion Tijuana

Want a great introduction to Tijuana? The Classic Tijuana City Tour, you know, it’s often a great way to get your bearings. So, this experience usually features a stroll down Avenida Revolución, a must-see for visitors. You’ll, apparently, be bumping into souvenir shops, artisan stalls, a bit of local color. As a matter of fact, many tours include visits to iconic spots. Anyway, the Tijuana Cultural Center (CECUT) which really, it’s where you can soak up some Mexican art, history.

Then too there’s the option of seeing Plaza Rio, it’s a really, well a very, important center for both commerce, community events. You get chances to sample some amazing street food, see street performers too. Yet, I think one of the cooler parts of this type of tour is how guides usually mix historical facts with current happenings, they’ll give you great context, I feel, it really helps in appreciating what you are seeing.

Arguably, there’s an awful lot you gain simply wandering the heart of Tijuana with an experienced tour leader to offer perspective and point out details that might be missed wandering about alone. I feel your pesos will be very well spent. You, very likely, will gain knowledge regarding:

2. Tijuana Foodie Tour: A Culinary Adventure

Tijuana Food

If you like delicious tacos, as a matter of fact if that sounds very appetizing, it just might be that the Tijuana Foodie Tour, arguably, is right up your alley. Anyway, this excursion focuses just a little on tasting the flavors that make Tijuana such a celebrated culinary spot. Obviously, expect plenty of street food stalls to dot your itinerary.

Okay, tours could include sampling authentic tacos al pastor, those wonderful fish tacos, unique regional dishes like birria or cochinita pibil. Plus, maybe visiting local markets, too, that’s an absolute must to see fresh produce. The aroma? It’s quite, nearly overpowering but so appealing, you might not want to miss it!

A cool guide often, too, provides insights just a little into each dish. Very few tourists grasp the history of dishes or the cultural significance; they’ll know if produce is organic or not as well. As I was saying, the secret spots that really locals treasure tend to be part of this tour experience, which gives you a cooler experience rather than typical tourist fare. Often visitors come away very pleasantly surprised, they end up raving more about the amazing food than some famous building. Very memorable, quite fun!

3. The Craft Beer & Brewery Tour

Tijuana Beer

Maybe you know someone that’s interested in a tasting tour rather than some dull, common one? Well, here we go! The craft beer scene around Tijuana, really it’s grown, too, quite a bit. Any good brewery tour, alright, it provides trips to many craft breweries, many a bit away from the downtown area.

Plus, arguably, these brewery spots frequently are places in converted warehouses, old factories or, as a matter of fact, cool remodeled buildings, a feature I think a lot of folks enjoy. A tour really like this often provides great background, great insights. Typically the owner, head brewer or, if it’s that type of operation, senior staff explain a bit about the brewing process. That, arguably, it gives it a personalized touch.

Now you shouldn’t assume it just is beer they offer. Okay, brewery food varies quite a bit. Many places offer menus that feature foods made, often, with their beer. Many items could be selected from regional Tijuana/Baja dishes and foods, such as ceviche, grilled taco style fare or different seafood dishes that actually provide amazing beer pairings. Basically, one could do just beer & pretzels, I feel many other brewery tours make a point to be cool, modern and local.

  • Craft Breweries
  • Beers and Pairings
  • Culture and Conversation

4. Ensenada Day Trip: Coastal Exploration

Ensenada Mexico

Alright, seeking to get outside Tijuana for a day, actually experience a nearby coastal treasure? This day trip really extends your vacation well south from the US/Mexico border and just a little down the peninsula, arguably a different world than that closer to the states. Ensenada, of course, offers seaside vistas, a little something different. You see a range of sights, a bunch of experiences during a brief visit, it gives you lots of stories to retell later on.

Arguably the excursions really feature the famous La Bufadora, which you probably know, a marine geyser. You often will see locals running stalls offering handcrafted souvenirs there at La Bufadora, quite a pretty, cool sight. If tours are longer, very organized or booked through bigger companies, sometimes you see local wineries or Guadalupe Valley, I’m told.

Many tour leaders are locals, it’s been observed, and offer a fantastic view to Baja California life. Also these are just a little insightful too regarding regional cuisine, too, maybe suggesting what to try, even revealing a good spot! At the end of the day Ensenada can give some a quick sense that it’s very special. And, as a matter of fact, lots of people, if given some flexibility in travel, visit the areas for many a good vacation that extends over an awful lot of time. It really just all starts with a visit.

5. Rosarito Beach Getaway: Sun, Sand, and Relaxation

Rosarito Beach Mexico

Okay, looking to chill, a bit of a getaway, I have found this is perfect. If sun and sand call, really, consider the Rosarito Beach Getaway. It’s super popular too, especially for a quick escape, an easily planned experience, an excursion really just south of Tijuana on the coast there. Tours can sometimes go with transportation straight to Rosarito, perhaps that will be important to you. Some travelers rent and actually make their way there!

Rosarito actually is quite celebrated for its pretty expansive sandy areas, and there, quite simply, you’re able to chill. I suspect tours frequently set aside a portion for chilling on the shore, there’s beach combing and general downtime during which to catch some of that amazing Mexican sun, a top notch attraction.

While, sure, most are pretty happy sitting just a little and enjoying the beautiful day, others wander in for shopping; of course those silver shops abound! Even I have seen horseback riding opportunities right on sand which just add charm. Still it must be said some tours just are structured, that really there is allocated dining time built in that showcases Mexican dishes that, like your fish tacos or, too, even just grilled seafood plates, you know they frequently impress.

  • Chilling in the sand
  • Beach exploration
  • Good dining nearby.
