Würzburg, that lovely town on the Main River, it’s almost more than just a pretty face, you know? 1. Rothenburg ob der Tauber: Stepping Back in Time

Rothenburg, that well-known town, it just might as well be ripped straight out of a fairy tale, is that right? Actually, it sits not too far off, only a little more than an hour from Würzburg. Get set to be just fully floored by the almost impossibly quaint cobblestone streets and half-timbered houses. Like, seriously, every corner you turn seems to be practically begging for a photo. Very picturesque! It is so amazing that it would make anyone smile! Wander around the old town walls – actually, they’re something you can stroll along, giving you some very killer views of the countryside. The Plönlein is there, which you know, it’s like that one spot everyone photographs. Very Instagrammable. Make your way to St. Jakob’s Church to gawk at the Holy Blood Altar, it was created by Tilman Riemenschneider, you know, he was quite the local celebrity back then. You see, if you like Christmas, then that little town should still probably be very famous to you! Rothenburg transforms into a pretty spectacular Christmas market during Advent, so too it’s a time to load up on some very mulled wine and gingerbread, if you’re into it.

Now, one of my own tales about Rothenburg… the town really shines whenever tourists aren’t crowding Main Street! Get to Rothenburg pretty dang early, so that you have all the time and opportunity in the sunlight for taking great shots! So if you make it just before anyone arrives there then it will turn a visit into a bit of magic!

2. Bamberg: A Taste of Franconian Rome

Bamberg, which, well, it sits pretty pretty on seven hills. Basically, you see why they call it the “Franconian Rome,” is that right? Just a bit north of Würzburg, Bamberg might actually be pretty much the spot for anyone who actually fancies a pretty solid dose of culture with their beer. Yep, you totally heard right. Bamberg has a seriously good beer tradition going on. We will try smoke beer here if we are ever here, ok?

Get going on the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) pretty early. And it’s actually plonked right in the middle of the river. It is super quirky! After that? Mumble on through the Klein Venedig (Little Venice) region. I want you to just picture super cute fishermen’s houses just snuggling up against the riverbanks, okay? It looks exactly like this, promise! I love to picture it like something on a postcard. Now if we like cathedrals then Bamberg Cathedral definitely deserves just at least a bit of a look-see, too, don’t you know? It’s a huge display of architectural grandness!

While you’re there, just stop by one of the many breweries to give the Rauchbier a taste – actually, this smoked beer, could be very…unique, even. Either way, it is a memorable taste sensation to give, is that correct? During one of my excursions, I ended up having the opportunity to basically converse a little with the landlord from such a brewery and learned a few tales about the past, too it’s almost better than consuming a drink itself!

3. Nuremberg: History and Heritage

Nuremberg is such an interesting place to go to, I will give it that! Actually, the town has this incredibly weighty past that will just take hold on you! It’s not that far from Würzburg. Nuremberg offers quite a strong blend of past meeting present. One might take a closer peak so that a strong link and grasp of history comes naturally to mind.

Go visit the Nuremberg Castle, which, by the way, this thing kind of lords over the city, you know? From way up there you might just see quite a number of spots within this charming town. Afterwards make certain you visit the Nazi Party Rally Grounds in order to basically see it and realize what it was like! Yeah, its kind of frightening if you go by yourself with just you in your vehicle. And if your inner artist is feeling excited then visit the Germanisches Nationalmuseum for something creative to do!

Nuremberg will change over into one huge Christmas wonderland as winter nears! We would go and just feel that vibe in town. Really I adore strolling along the Christkindlesmarkt while taking little sips out from those Glühwein (Mulled Wine) that are quite hot! Oh it feels like you have went on some super long fairy story and that its time for bed, you understand what I mean?

4. Franconian Switzerland: Nature’s Playground

If that whole history thing does nothing for you. And your spirit desires getting amongst some lush scenery then visit Franconian Switzerland! Is that so, did the country exist already and its inside another country? Like wow right? Its just a bit to the eastern areas away from Würzburg. So come bring some hiking footwear because we will soon trek it!

Franconian Switzerland gives everyone such striking scenery; ideal when they hike all day! Try visiting that Ebermannstadt as well as Pottenstein place there! One really awesome memory there would involve me with this long, scenic trip that will never fade in the memory where the nature changes across as it goes throughout all four moments during seasons throughout annual timeline! 5. Weikersheim: A Baroque Jewel

Weikersheim is possibly best thought about as just being this minor area of gorgeous scenery that features just a stunning structure built into! Not terribly from Würzburg. Perfect for taking these quick and easy mid week vacations so you can chill throughout some fine areas but without wasting entire days travelling backwards forward throughout the place. Is there anyplace perfect!
