York, that ancient city brimming with history and maybe, just maybe a ghost or two, is a pretty awesome place to explore. Now, sure, you could, you know, wander around on your own, but to really, very much get a feel for the place, it is that some guided adventure tours might be just what you need. So, basically I have looked into the five coolest adventure tours that York has to offer, giving you the lowdown on what makes each one shine. After this, planning your perfect York experience will be such a breeze.

1. The York Ghost Bus Tour: Spooky Fun

First up, very much picture this: you are hopping onto a vintage bus on a night like yours. This isn’t just some normal sightseeing thing; this is the York Ghost Bus Tour, where you are that part of an eerie ride through the city’s most haunted spots. The guides, really dressed up in character, too, are storytellers, each bringing York’s ghoulish past back to life.

What makes it cool:

A little story: I chatted with a lady outside a pub near the Shambles, you know? She said she took the tour on her birthday and it was just the best. She learned loads, laughed a lot, and also, maybe just maybe saw a ghost (she winked!). Very good times.

My experience: I hopped onto the evening cruise last summer, too, it was something different. The light on the water, the city lit up – pretty perfect. Oh, the food? Very, very yummy too. Just saying.

For those of you, like, keen to get active, too, a York Cycling Tour could, like, be just the ticket. This, really, lets you explore at your own speed, discovering hidden spots and enjoying the fresh air, basically all while your friendly guide keeps you that way, too, on track. Its very cool.

  • Active Sightseeing: It is, that, exercise and sightseeing all in one – keeping fit whilst seeing some, you know, landmarks.
  • Local Guides: Basically, they know their stuff, and sharing a heap of stuff along the way.

True Story: Last autumn, you know, I rented a bike to follow one of these tours (at my own speed, a little!). I stumbled upon the most lovely little gardens just outside the city walls, too, I totally never would have seen it otherwise.

With, like, themed tours – Roman York, Viking York, you know, very haunted York – you are sure to get what you really looking for.

What makes it cool:

  • Expert Guides: I have checked a lot, you know. Very top notch tour guides and such like, is that they know literally everything about the place.
  • Themed Adventures: Pick a topic that really, really interests you.
  • Access: Basically, that they lead to parts of town you really might never see.

Guess What: I tagged along on a Roman York tour not so long ago. You know, a person there showed everyone the spots of old Roman buildings that I walked over loads of times without even noticing! Totally cool, a little story.

5. The Chocolate Story: Sweet History

Fancy something very sweet? Very much take a trip to The Chocolate Story, an attraction that really celebrates York’s yummy history in chocolate. It is something else to see and visit. That tour basically guides you through the making of chocolates, from bean, you know, all the way up to bar. Very good tasting samples too.

What makes it cool:

  • Yummy Learning: Get to, you know, discover some of the place where that famous chocolate got born
  • Interactive: Get, basically, make a taste of something wonderful and eat the result. Is something
  • Tasting Opportunities: Oh yes! Lots of, you know, little sample to discover on route

Fun Moment: I stopped, basically, there some months prior and there was very much all in a flap person from a very old company making a real show of the thing with some nice cocoa, if memory serves.
