1. Boat Trip to Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach
One of the most well-known spots in Zakynthos has to be Navagio Beach, sometimes called Shipwreck Beach. As a matter of fact, this iconic spot is almost only reached by boat, which clearly adds to its remote and special feel. Apparently, most tours depart from various locations around the island, like Zakynthos Town, very much offering different perspectives and durations. When you sail towards Navagio, you’ll probably see the crystal-clear blue water and tall limestone cliffs that seem to rise out of the sea – it’s quite the sight.
The beach itself is sandy and quite covered with white pebbles, all surrounding a rusty shipwreck. That, it’s almost believed, ran aground back in 1980. People love sunbathing, taking photos, and of course swimming in these super blue waters. Anyway, because the beach draws quite big crowds, it might be a good idea to arrive early or consider a late afternoon tour for a slightly quieter visit. Still, getting to this special beach is that great thing to do for anyone coming to Zakynthos. Read our full review: Zakynthos Shipwreck Beach Full Review and Details

2. Exploring the Blue Caves
So, on the north side of Zakynthos you can find another amazing natural wonder: the Blue Caves. Yet these caves are pretty well-known because of the intense blue color of the water inside, caused by that way light reflects through the sea. Usually, boat tours to the Blue Caves set off from places such as Agios Nikolaos, plus they often include time for you to swim right inside the caves. In a way, it’s kind of like being in another world.
Most people find it incredible to swim in such bright water, and so snorkeling really steps it up a notch, offering views of underwater marine life. If you are feeling like something different, a glass-bottom boat may give you an even clearer view of this vivid marine environment. It should be noted, the Blue Caves are an unforgettable stop on your Zakynthos itinerary, very much perfect for taking memorable snaps and really loving what nature can create. 3. Hiking in the Askos Stone Park
Are you, arguably, looking for a break from the beaches? Then, actually, go have a walk around Askos Stone Park, a nature reserve with a whole lot more to offer. As I was saying, this park, pretty close to Volimes village, is a safe haven for animals and local plants, so the surroundings there have some vibrant ecosystems.
You will wander along stone paths, see little critters in their local area, plus get a look at local flora and fauna. Anyway, that park includes stone constructions which really fit in with the local countryside. In fact, kids are allowed to get up near the animals, making the whole day instructive and getting them outside in the world. 4. Turtle Spotting at Laganas Bay
So, Laganas Bay isn’t only one of Zakynthos’ longest beaches, but very much one of Europe’s most important breeding sites for loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta). Lots of organised tours aim to show people these awesome animals while still protecting them and the site. The tours usually travel out from Laganas, Kalamaki, and other near coastal villages.
The boats tend to be fitted out to make it easier to look at turtles without bothering them, too it’s almost so all participants understand conservation tips and turtle-spotting rules before going on this great animal trip. Very few experiences match what seeing this amazing species in nature. In other words, do not leave without taking a trip to Laganas Bay if you’d want to witness them swim freely. Are you trying to find that one ideal spot for Zakynthos views that’ll make your jaw drop? I think head towards Kampi, which has got that vantage point looking to the west coast. High on the cliffs there sits some tavernas – just that right venue to unwind as the sun sinks lower.
Many believe it looks particularly beautiful when the sun kisses that horizon, really spreading oranges and pinks on anything it touches – this turns watching a regular sunset almost something epic. Kampi provides far more than picturesque views – the local places give one a flavor only that authentic island dishes offer. Enjoy it! Anyway, remember it should be up on one’s schedule as a sure experience that one won’t forget while over in Zakynthos. Read our full review: Kampi Sunset Views Full Review and Details
